The other day someone asked us about how we prepare our potatoes for planting. They noticed that the potatoes we had cut didn’t yet have “eyes,” which sparked a wonderful opportunity to share a little bit about the simple beauty of growing food.

Potatoes are one of the Lord’s easiest and most rewarding crops to grow. With just a little patience and care, they will prepare themselves exactly as they need to. After cutting the potatoes into pieces, we simply lay them out on a table and cover them with the darkest cloth we can find. In about four days, something special happens. The potatoes begin forming their little eyes, and a protective layer develops over the cut surface. This natural process creates a seed piece that is ready to be planted in the soil.

It’s a gentle reminder of how God designed creation to work in quiet and wonderful ways. With a bit of time, patience, and faith in the process He created, even something as simple as a potato becomes the beginning of a new harvest.

We spent all day yesterday cutting up potatoes ready for planting. You have to wait 3-4 days for them to dry out. Then we put a dark tablecloth over them so they will be in the dark. There's an old saying that it's best to plant potatoes at night in the moonlight on a full moon for a bountiful harvest! 🥔🌕🌃

I'm looking to trade some 2nd year strawberry slips for some tomato plants. They have great roots. I would like Bradley's or Pink Lady's. Have 40 that can be traded.

Our very first strawberry bloom of the season is finally here! 🍓💐💜 There’s nothing sweeter than walking out to the garden and seeing those first little blossoms. It’s a sure sign that warm days and fresh strawberries are just around the corner. Watching these plants grow each year is such a joy, and we are beyond excited to see what this season brings!
