Now's the moment to harvest garlic scapes and unlock their vibrant flavor, elevated beautifully in olive oil, pairing seamlessly with chicken, fish salad, soup, chili or virtually any dish, bringing a fresh twist to your culinary creations.

We chopped them up in pieces shrink wrap then freeze them and they last for months.

Of course, the reason we cut the escapes off is because the garlic bulb will get bigger.

New flower garden area.

80 to 125 pound boulders outline the flowers. On top, Mexican and regular sunflowers are planted with cosmos and yard long asparagus beans which will climb up the wire. The lower portion will be surrounded by Marigold’s.

This is an excellent way to utilize the electric pole wire incorporated with flowers and stone. The 10 foot height of the beans adds a nice visual especially with the 2 foot bean pods hanging down.

Don’t say you weren’t warned! My friend Rick was correct again.

In Zone 6a Northwestern Pa tonight there will be clear skies with visibility up to 30,000 feet and 40°.

For those who put flowers and tender plants out have fun covering them or bring them back in! I advised you not to put your plants in till May 31 or later.

Please put in the notes how your plants made it through the 40° temperature tonight.

Oh by the way, look at the beautiful sky tonight in the stars.

Thank you.

Sedum (stone crop) is a succulent and wonderful accent plant. There are many varieties of sedum that exhibit a great color spectrum such as (burgundy, forest green, lime green, yellowish green, etc.) to your ground cover. They offer pollen to bees and (flutterbies).

My favorite setting is by placing it on large boulders and stumps. A completely care free plant. No rain for 4 weeks in summer, no worries it still lives!

It’s not even close to being late. Yesterday, I started climbing, bush and yard long asparagus beans; cucumbers(5) varieties, acorn and yellow squash, zucchini, more basil, Mexican sunflower and cosmos in germination containers.

Remember you can replant bush/climbing beans four times during the summer so you can feed the entire neighborhood!

Don’t forget about broadcasting dill seed now so you can make your pickles. Just as you do for the bean seeds save some of your dill seed for next year, so you don’t have to purchase it. Always mark a space in your garden to allow plant seeds to mature, for your seeds the following year. That is the benefit of planting heirloom seeds verses hybrid seeds. One great goal for gardening is to plant all Heirloom seeds. This way you don’t have to pay for any seeds.

325 garlic doing well. Will roast on the grill which will raise the flavor to an unbelievable taste. Then we will put in half pint jars with high-grade olive oil and freeze. Stays fresh for one year.
