TESTAMENT — New Sire for 2026 – Semen Available at 605!
Sire: ROSE Replay 3321 (Encore x UDE Queen Ruth 0204)
Dam: Annie Lu 2684 (24K x Annie Lu 4472)

A true TESTAMENT to what can happen when two of our favorite Angus cow families come together — the influence of Annie Lu 4472 and Queen Ruths in one package.

Testament is a bull we raised here at the farm and one we always believed was special. He’s the kind that just kept getting better every day through the fall and winter. Now with semen available, we’ve been flushing him to several of our Angus donors with high hopes for what’s hitting the ground next spring.

There really aren’t enough words to describe what Annie Lu 4472 (Testament’s grandmother) has meant to our program — or honestly, her impact over the last decade. We don’t claim to be legacy Angus breeders, but it is pretty incredible to watch a cow family leave the kind of mark she has had after her and Kennedy's successful showrun. TESTAMENT’s dam, Annie Lu 2684, is a full sister to Braylen Schaeffer’s “Annie Lu 230,” the female that was 4th Overall Supreme at Louisville, Reserve Grand Angus at Cattlemen’s Congress, Grand Heifer at Hoosier Beef Congress, Multiple-time division winner at National Angus shows. And now, a donor already making a major impact for both our program and the Schaeffer Show Cattle family. Every day, 2684 looks more and more like her mother in the donor pasture, and we could not be more excited about the calf crop she has on the ground this spring.

On the top side of TESTAMENT’s pedigree is ROSE Replay 3321, an Encore son out of UDE Queen Ruth 0204 — a direct daughter of the legendary KDJ Queen Ruth 502. Replay was a bull we purchased alongside the Hunter Brothers from Zane Ward a few years ago. We always liked the bull, but what truly drew us in was the cow behind him. 0204, campaigned by the Wheeler family, earned numerous National Angus honors and still stands out in our minds as one of the most unique Angus females we’ve seen for her combination of mass, feature, softness of structure, and generating look.

We know we’re already well into breeding season, but if you’re searching for an Angus sire with added look, presence, structure, and a pedigree stacked with proven cow power — give us a shout.

3 OF OUR BEST RETURN-ON-INVESTMENT TOOLS OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS.

Running show and sale cattle can get expensive, especially when there is a constant need to invest. When we spend money on upgrades or something new, it has to help us increase productivity – there are never enough hours in a day. Here are a few of our favorites ones over the last few years.

🔴 OUR OPEN-SIDED, 6-HEAD WASHRACK. We built it ourselves and the amount of cattle we can run through in a day, while still doing a good job. Of course, it is helpful for sale cattle, but we also wash our show heifers on it all summer and fall.

🔴 SENSEHUB® COW CALF MONITORING TAGS. We added SenseHub technology* from Merck Animal Health last year and it helps us keep track of heats from our phone. Of course, we are still driving through and checking cattle, but it helps us keep track of large groups, or cows that are coming into heat when we aren’t there. We figure if we can get a few more cows bred in a year, the tags will pay for themselves. Learn more about the technology here: https://bit.ly/SenseHubBC

🔴 HAY AND FEEDING EQUIPMENT: OUR CHOPPER BALER AND VERTICAL MIXER. We have a chopper baler that allows us to cut the hay at 5-6 inch. Not only does it make it easier for cattle to eat, and they tend to consume more hay but it also makes it easier and faster to mix in our vertical mixer. We added a vertical mixer into the operation about 5 years ago. It helps us maximize feed rations and feed cost.
