Today is day 18 for my chick hatching eggs which means I stopped turning the eggs today and have put them on the hatching tray, adjusted temperature to 99.7 degrees and set humidity at 60 %. Three more days until predicted hatching.
There are 15 eggs in the incubator:
6 Black Copper Maran eggs
6 Buff Orpington eggs
3 Olive Egger eggs
If they hatch it should be a colorful bunch of chicks as well as, eventually, colorful eggs (providing they aren't all roosters. 🫣

Day #16 incubating DUCK eggs. Every day for the next week I take the eggs out of the incubator for 20 minutes to cool a bit (incubator temperature is set at 99.7 and 44.5% humidity). After 20 minutes I mist the eggs with water and return them to the incubator. I don't handle the eggs often, but I decided today to try candling just a few of them. I definitely saw veining in a couple and the air sack is getting smaller. I'm excited! Hatch day should be the 15th or 16th so just a little over 10 more days.
My incubator automatically turns the eggs so I just get to enjoy the process. Fingers crossed for successful hatching.

"Squishy Mail"!! This absolutely gorgeous MERMAID HAIR arrived this afternoon. It is: BFL, Mohair, Merino, Bamboo and Angelina as well as the Alpaca & Tussah Silk Top. The photo doesn't do justice to the brilliant blue and green colors and how sparkle-y it is.

If you are a fiber artist I HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking out FOLKLORE FIBER ARTS. It arrived beautifully packaged with a packet of fiber wash, handwritten note, little goodies. Super fast delivery. I couldn't be more pleased.

I have several ideas how I'll use it. Can hardly wait to get started.

Playing with different Angora fiber and with my blending board. Hands on different breed wool is so interesting. I can't say yet which is my favorite, but the French Angora is wonderful and the Satin Angora is like...satin.

Picture #1: left is white French Angora and on the right is Red Satin Angora.

I decided to blend them before spinning so

Picture #2: Rolags variegated with the white French and Red Satin

I've so much to learn but the journey is so much fun!

Happy New Month, New Year, New Life.
4 Giant Angora kits.

GP ARIA and CB's X31 Juliet. Both Giant Angora does. ARIA will be a first time momma. Juliet is a proven doe with one successful litter (ARIA is one of Juliet's kits from her 1st litter.) Juliet lost her 2nd litter last month so I rebred her. Both does are bred to CB's Gershwin. Both does are on day 31. I'm guessing they'll kindle New Year's Eve or New Year's day.

Don't bother me now! I'm busy making the perfect nursery for my babies. Giant Angora.
Any guesses for how many and what day?

It's been a while since I've been to a show and today was such a fun day.

Show A:
SONNET, my senior white Satin Angora doe received BOSV

BANJO, my senior white French Angora buck received BOB
and
ENCORE, my senior white French Angora doe received BOS.

Show B:
SONNET again received BOSV

I had a DQ in show B that I feel awful I missed. To my friends who are non-rabbit enthusiasts, when judging, among many things a judge looks at and counts are the rabbit's nails. OMG! My lovely HARMONY (white Satin Angora doe) is missing an entire toe as well as a nail down to nothing. How have I not noticed before?

The best part of the day was chatting, visiting with and learning from the other Angora breeders. I'm sure I drive everyone nuts as I ask lots of questions. We had 53 Angoras at the show today. It was such a fun day. I'm exhausted now. 😊

This evening I played around with an idea I had for some smaller bits of my Angora Wool. I needle felted the Angora to a small square of felted wool, added a button to the center and then sewed a pin clasp on the back.

I knitted the cowl and head band/ear warmer a few years ago and thought maybe adding the Angora pin might be fun. Or I could add it to my black felt hat.

This is just a prototype but it was fun to make.
