Thank you for another meaningful Growing Common Ground conversation!

A special thank you to Missy Timmerman, Beatrice elementary school principal, for sharing her insights and experiences during last night's discussion on “The Future of Childhood.” We also thank the eight individuals who joined us, bringing their questions, perspectives, and willingness to listen and learn from one another.

Growing Common Ground is about creating opportunities for thoughtful conversations, listening to different points of view, and building understanding within our community. Thank you to everyone who helped make last night's discussion possible!

Happy National Farmer's Day!

The farmer is too dirty and tired to post a picture of herself, but here are some scenes from the day:

Farming in Nebraska is not easy—today was 92° and we might have our first frost Friday night. Be sure to thank all the people who grow your food! Many work far harder than I do to bring fresh, local food to our plates.

Nothing is as exhausting as being an extremely spoiled barn cat.

Oreo required a tremendously long nap on mom’s lap today during CSA pickup. Yep, she’s fast asleep with her head hanging down like that.

Any guesses what on earth she might have been up to all day to wear her out this much??

Come out this Thursday to stock up on fall goodies! And, I'll be in costume so you can guess who I'm dressed up as!

Last market of the season is this Thursday!

It's a HALLOWEEN theme! Wear a costume, bring the kids, and buy a pumpkin! Kala's Savory Bites & Sifted Sweets will have their food trailer there serving Halloween-themed food! Grab supper while you shop!

When you’re a farmer, you do a lot of different things. Yesterday one of those things was hanging out with kids to read some books. That’s a pretty good way to spend a rainy morning!

Hopefully I’ve planted the seed (pun intended) for the future with the mention of the need for more beekeepers to help save the bees!

IT’S READY! Fresh baby ginger will be at the Beatrice Farmers Market this Thursday!

Not sure how to use ginger? Google some recipes and then we’ll discuss them at the market. I have lots of recommendations.

This chilly, rainy weather means it’s SOUP SEASON! Come to the Beatrice Farmers Market today to get all your soup ingredients!

We’ve got eggs for egg drop soup, tomatoes for tomato soup, celery for vegetable soup, onions for French onion soup, potatoes for potato soup, butternut squash for squash soup, garlic for roasted garlic soup, peppers for chili, and zucchini for minestrone.

I transplanted 300 lettuces and bok choy today.

If they mature as scheduled, you can counteract all the Halloween candy you eat with salads in November!
