Vino Noceto

Vino Noceto We're a small family-run w**ery that's been making "California's Best Sangiovese" for almost 40 years!
(701)

W**e critic Mike Dunne calls Vino Noceto "the state's go-to house ... and most respected producer of sangiovese w**es in California." Suzy and Jim Gullett have established Vino Noceto as “California’s Sangiovese Specialist” following a pathway considerably different than other Sangiovese producers, yet similar to many small, "boutique" operations. It began when Jim, still in his teens, caught the

"bug" while visiting Napa w**eries with family and friends. The "bug" grew into a "passion" over the years as the couple took regular w**e-county outings and several w**e-related courses. While on a family vacation in California's Gold Country, they stumbled upon the Shenandoah Valley property where their w**ery and home currently reside. With the September 1984 purchase of this 21-acre property and the subsequent 1987 acquisition of the neighboring 18.5 acre original homestead, the "passion" became "reality." Vino Noceto now has over thirty acres of grapes, almost all Sangiovese, five acres of olive trees, 200 lilac bushes, and two acres of walnut trees, each contributing revenue to the farm. Buildings include their 1887 renovated ranchhouse, w**ery and tasting room buildings, and several rustic barns and out-buildings. From only 110 cases of Sangiovese in its inaugural 1990 vintage, the w**ery now produces 10,000 cases of w**e annually. This includes 6,000 cases of seven different Sangioveses, 2,000 cases of a lively Moscato blend called Frivolo, plus an old vine Zinfandel from the Original Grandpere Vineyard, Barbera, and Pinot Grigio. Then there's always the four grappas when you're needing a nightcap -- but that's another story! Remember that w**e is meant to be enjoyed by those of legal drinking age. Only those who are of legal age are allowed to visit the Vino Noceto page. Please do not share our posts with communities who are not of legal drinking age, and please encourage friends and family to drink responsibly.

Earlier today, we referenced the music catalog of the incomparable Dolly Parton in a newsletter. Only hours later, we learned of her passing. Typically, we don’t comment on the loss of a celebrity on this account. But Dolly epitomized the true American - kind, giving, and devoted to public service. She also shared, with our founder Suzy Gullett, a true belief in the power of books and education.

Today, the Gullett family made a donation to Dolly’s Imagination Library book gifting program in memory of both Dolly and Suzy Gullett. 🕊️

Yesterday, we celebrated owner Jim Gullett's 78th trip around the sun!!!

For decades, Jim has been proving that great w**e only gets better with age... and apparently, so does he. 😉

From planting vines to building Vino Noceto into what it is today, his passion, vision, and love for Sangiovese continue to inspire us every day.

Please join us in wishing Jim a fantastic year ahead filled with great w**e, great friends, and plenty of reasons to raise a glass. 🥂

Cheers to 78 years—and many more harvests to come!

Today would have been Suzy Gullett’s 76th birthday.

She left a legacy of warm, customer-first (and detail-oriented!) hospitality that continues to shape everything we do at Noceto.

Please raise a glass to the matriarch of Noceto, Suzy Gullett.

She is remembered with so much love, gratitude, and joy.
