Little Creek Alpacas, established in 2008, is a chemical free farm that raises alpacas sustainably and ethically. Little Creek Alpacas was born out of a great love for animals, and the desire to become more self sufficient and raise our children in a more spiritual setting. We chose alpacas over other livestock because they are docile, earth friendly, and produce a wonderul, luxurious fiber that i

s better than cashmere. Alpaca fiber is not only soft, durable, and warm; it is also moisture wicking, flame retardant, water resistant, and stain resistant.

Cassandra Mira, aka Little Bitty, is here with the Friday Scoop:
- I will not be at the Macomb Farmers Market this Sat., Sept. 5th due to the extreme heat this week extended into Saturday. I think it's best to stay home and keep the alpacas cool.
- Sat., Sept. 12th I will be at the Macomb Farmers Market from 8am-12pm in Chandler Park. I should have a few new items finished up next weekend, plus I finally got the ankle sport socks that everyone loves back in stock! I also have more therapeutic socks in various colors & sizes. I'm bringing Old Louie with and will be cranking out batt blends until noon.
- Sat., Sept. 12th from 1pm-8pm is The W**e Sellers "Play It Forward" with live music from various local artists in the b**r garden to benefit The Humane Society of McDonough County. It's a great way to support our local shelter, so come out to The W**e Sellers on the square in Macomb and have a Strawberry Magic b**r with me next Sat., Sept. 12th!
- Sat., Sept. 19th Macomb Farmers Market from 8am-12pm in Chandler Park.
- Sat., Sept. 26th & Sun., Sept. 27th from 1pm-5pm is our National Alpaca Farm Days 2026 event. Hand feed alpacas in a free-range setting, play on Sunny Beach, see carding & spinning demonstrations, make a free alpaca craft with Moon Cat's Art in the Kid's Craft Area, make a needle felted picture or pouch using alpaca fiber and a handmade alpaca felt canvas with A Tangled Mess Fiber arts for just $10 (ages 8 & up), shop with several local artisans, and enjoy tasty food & drinks from The 19th Hole food truck. Free admission. No pets, no smoking, no chasing the alpacas. We'll have a Beatles Tribute puppet show by Quesal Puppet Troupe on Sun., Sept. 27th at 2pm (the Saturday puppet show got canceled, sorry).
- Sat., Oct. 3rd & Sun., Oct. 4th and Sat., Oct. 10th & Sun., Oct. 11th I'll be at Native Trails W**ery in Lewistown, IL from 9am-5pm both weekends for Spoon River Drive.

That's it for this week's Friday Scoop! I hope everyone has a great weekend and stays cool.

Bun Bun has a farm announcement to make:

Due to the extended period of extreme heat this week and into the weekend, Little Creek Alpacas will not be at the Macomb Farmers Market this Sat., Sept. 5th. I'm going to spend the weekend keeping the alpacas cool and creating new things. Stay tuned, still working on Miss Freida Flowers. I had to wait until we could go to Menard's and get a diamond drill bit for the teeth. In the meantime, I've whipped up 12 batt blends so my son will have plenty of hand-spun yarn to knit his hats with, and I'm going to start another Gaudy Maudy Monster. From now on, the monsters will have phalanges.

Another hot morning on the farm. We have a heat advisory until Friday evening. The pond water is still cool and feels great. Some of the alpacas love eating the lilly pads. I'll be hopping in later after morning chores. I try to give our alpacas the best life possible. I appreciate the fiber they provide me in return. I can't wait to show you all the new hats my son knit out of our hand-spun alpaca yarns at our National Alpaca Farm Days 2026 event Sat., Sept. 26th & Sun., Sept. 27th from 1pm-5pm.

Trifecta is so cute. He cracks me up when he gets a burst of energy and starts jumping on all the other alpacas.
