Melton Farm

Melton Farm Family Farm Melton Farm is located along the Pocatalico River in Lanham, near Poca, Putnam County, West Virginia.

The farm has been owned and operated by members of the same family since November 16, 1874 and has been designated as a West Virginia Century Farm. Early members of the family primarily used the land for productin of meat, milk, eggs, and vegetables for home comsumption. As the years passed Hereford cattle, hay, corn, and to***co were added and sold commercially. Melton Farm is currently owned and

operated by Kevin and Pamela Irvine where they reside with their two daughters Kelly and Jamie Irvine. The operation primarily cosists of Angus/Hereford-cross cow/calf and hay production. The Irvine’s are active in the community 4-H and FFA programs. They are also members of the West Virginia Farm Bureau and have participated in various agricultural and conservation programs with the USDA Farm Service Agency. Jamie and Kelly Irvine are the seventh generation to be actively involved with the family farm. The family strives to preserve their West Virginia family farm heritage while continuing to improve agricultural production of Melton Farm.
