Be that weird guy who pulled over and checked on the animal that was hit by a car to see if it was still alive and needed help.

Be the construction worker that left work early while his buddies laughed at him because he found an injured squirrel and wanted to get it to safety.

Be the irritating woman who isn’t afraid to stop traffic because a mama duck is trying to cross the road with her babies.

Be the gross person who isn’t disgusted by a mangy fox and sees it as an animal that needs help from the right people.

Be the aggravating informant who tells the guy buying rat poison what it does to our local wildlife.

Be the uncool kid who stops his friends from trying to hurt a snake they found for fun.

When we start feeling bad or embarrassed for showing EMPATHY toward another and trying to SAVE A LIFE, then we have let the opinions of others mean WAY too much.

Never apologize for being a good and caring human being. There aren’t enough in this world.

The animal most people swerve to avoid is the one quietly keeping their yard clean — and she's gone before her second summer ends.

A mother opossum is born after just thirteen days, the size of a honeybee, and crawls on her own into the pouch. From there it's a sprint: pouch, then a ride on her mother's back, then the night shift alone. Barely two years, and most of them spent eating the beetles, slugs and fallen fruit nobody wanted, and clearing carrion off the road before it spreads anything.

She almost never carries rabies — her body runs too cool for the virus to survive. Her blood neutralizes rattlesnake and copperhead venom so well that scientists are studying it for a universal antivenom. And when she goes stiff in your headlights, she isn't bluffing — her body faints from fear, something she can't switch off.

The ugliest face on the block belongs to its gentlest worker. 🍃

Painting a turtle’s shell may seem harmless, but it’s one of the most painful things you can do to this gentle creature.

A turtle’s shell is not like a rock or wall, it’s alive, filled with nerves and blood vessels. It helps the turtle absorb sunlight, regulate body temperature, and even breathe. When paint covers the shell, it blocks sunlight, traps bacteria, and releases toxins into the turtle’s body. What looks like “art” can cause bone weakness, infections, and eventually death.

It doesn’t happen overnight, it’s a slow, silent suffering. Beneath the bright colors, a living creature struggles to survive. Each brushstroke steals a little more of its strength, turning something natural and beautiful into a prison.

So before turning wildlife into decoration, remember - the turtle’s shell is its skin, its protection, its life. Real kindness isn’t about painting nature; it’s about preserving it. If you ever see a painted turtle, report it to a wildlife rescue team. Protect beauty, don’t destroy it.
