Our herb and hot pepper garden! Genovese, thai, holy, and purple basil, jalapeño, cayenne, and habanero peppers, ground cherries, chamomile, calendula, coneflower, tarragon, lavender, rosemary, sage, parsley, sorrel, nasturtium... the cilantro and dill have flowered but they're so pretty and the pollinators love them, so we're just leaving them for now!

New leafcutter bee video from Bug of the Week, a fun local entomology YouTube channel from UMD professor Michael Raupp that we've been watching for years. Many folks don't know that leafcutter bees exist, let alone that they are some of the most efficient pollinators in the world - a stat that blew our minds was that, depending on the species, they can pollinate 25x more effectively than honeybees! So look out for these awesome bees we named our farm for and consider building bee houses/hotels for the native bees, of which there are over 400 species in Maryland. There are plenty of places that sell these kits online, a fun craft to do with kids and an opening to teach them about biodiversity!

Megachilids are regular visitors to my butterfly w**d in the flower bed, to thistles in the meadow, and to a variety of other flowering trees and shrubs they...

This is the beautiful unfiltered green color of fresh napa/Chinese cabbage - it doesn't have to be yellow like at the grocery store! Get your mitts on a head or two of our cabbages that we harvest the morning of delivery (Wednesday) and make yourself some kimchi and/or sauerkraut!

'Tis the season for pasta primavera, here with our sunflower shoots and onion microgreens, courtesy of - lucky to have family who make such gorgeous dishes with our microgreens!

Sunflower shoots work in pretty much everything, and we regularly throw them on pasta and stir-fry. They add such a nice crunch and nutty flavor to the dish, while also providing valuable nutrients like protein, potassium, and Vitamin A, among many others! Grilled shrimp in oregano marinade on a salad that features our sunflower shoots, pea shoots, amaranth, and tatsoi microgreens! Dad's beautiful creation. No words... really can't express how great it feels to see our micros as a part of your meals! Please send us any photos you may take with them!

Hi everyone, it's been way too long but we're back at it and though still tiny, just a smidgen larger since starting the outdoor-growing operation! Right now we have microgreens in stock on our website at leafcutterfarm.com/shop and would just LOVE to deliver you some delicious and special varieties this Wednesday!

Yesterday we got to participate in the cute SpringFest at the Loudoun Heritage Farm Museum in Sterling, VA - our first time selling offline! We decided to create specialty samplers so folks unfamiliar with microgreens or with certain varieties could try 4 at once. We hope you'll check out what we have available this week!

Delicious roasted potatoes, fennel, and garlic we got from through our first online order! If you're in the Frederick area, check out this great service, tons of choices and local farms to support. We're lucky enough to have a pickup point just down the street in Point of Rocks, but there are a couple other places you can snag a bag of veggies and other goodies!

We topped it off with some red cabbage microgreens, but you do you!

Okonomiyaki served with tofu, Sriracha mayo, and topped with our radish, kale, and broccoli microgreens! These Japanese cabbage-pancakes are so dang good that we eat them on a monthly basis. The microgreens add a desired splash of color, depth of flavor, and nutrition to the dish!

Greek salad with every microgreen variety we offer! Given the latest dozen or so meal posts we've made, it feels as if we may be underselling the salad-making potential of microgreens. This is undoubtedly their most common use at our house! They simply make every salad more toothsome, nourishing, and elegant.

A special sister made this gorgeous corn chowder topped with our daikon radish microgreens!

Daikon micros are a bit milder than the other radishes we own and therefore are super versatile. Studies have shown they are especially high in Vitamin E, even compared to other incredibly nutritious microgreens! Noodles and microgreens are best friends in our kitchen! The the first photo is of buckwheat shoots making the simplest dish extra healthy, delicious, and colorful. We love the bright, lemony notes buckwheat shoots provide to a meal! The second photo is of our kale & broccoli blend in some cheap ramen - instantly transforming it into something much less blah and far more nutritious. The long, crunchy, and flavorful stems of all microgreens we offer function much like noodles, mixing right into the meal.

For parents of pickier eaters, try them in your little one's spaghetti or ramen! Making this post really reminded me of the noodles in one of my favorite childhood books, Gregory The Terrible Eater by Mitchell Sharmat - those clever parents!

Lentil stew with pea shoots! Nothing in the world wrong with frozen peas, but pea shoots add freshness along with higher levels of Vitamins A and E per gram, as well being an amazing source of Vitamins C and K, fiber, potassium, and more!
