Our latest ripening apples are a toss up, Cripp's Pink, Yates, & Virginia Limbertwig all ripen about the last week of October to first week of November.
Our earliest apple is a bit of a mystery though. Ripening the middle of June it is a medium to large yellow/green apple with a tangy tart almost citrus taste.
A friend from Arizona found this in a very old orchard, had DNA testing done with no match, and made a post to see if anyone recognized it.
One clue was the exceptionally large blossoms it made, which made me question if it could be Arkansas Globe, one of the lost Hubach apples.
She was kind enough to send scions which I grafted on standard rootstock.
Definitely not Arkansas Globe, but who doesn't like a mystery? 🍏🍏🍏

Apples aren't the only thing we graft around here. We have an old peach that originated in Arkansas from the 20's called Lola Queen and this year I've added a few pecans.
I have several native seedling trees that had grown above the browse line, perfect for improved varieties.
Grafted Kanza, Syrup Mill, Adam's #5, and an old papershell tree growing near Armorel, possibly Mahan. This tree caught my eye because 1, I normally don't care for the taste of Stuarts, and 2, there were two other pecan trees near by that looked like Stuarts and were covered in scab.
Now the wait.
