In 1964, Gene Bolster, local grower; Dick Bethell, the county's pomology specialist and farm advisor; Ed Delfino, the county's agricultural commissioner: and Bob Tuck, a retired army officer, all united to form the Apple Hill Growers Association. Right now at 24 Carrot Farm , summer and fall are sharing the same table.

The last of summer’s sweet harvest is still coming in while the apples, pumpkins, and all the flavors of fall are stepping up to take their place. For a brief window, you get both, and the colors and flavors at this all-organic farm reflect every bit of that.

This is the sweet spot of the season. Don’t miss it.

Many Apple Hill® ranches are still open and welcoming visitors during the power outage! 🍎 A few tips to make your visit easy:

📱 Call ahead or check socials first. Hours and offerings can change by the hour, so check the farm’s Instagram or page, or give them a call before you drive up.

💵 Bring cash. Card readers and ATMs may be down, and some farms may only be able to take cash. Small bills are best for apples, donuts, and treats.

🗺️ Download your map before you go. Cell service in Camino and Po***ck Pines can be spotty, and an outage can make it worse. Save an offline map and screenshot the farms you plan to visit.

Today is National Farmer’s Day, and we’re grateful for every grower, rancher, and w**emaker who makes Apple Hill® what it is. This place exists because of them.

Behind every apple, every bottle of w**e, every pie you’ve taken home from these farms, there’s a family that got up before sunrise to make it happen.

Thank you for feeding us, for welcoming us onto your land, and for keeping these traditions alive.
