Got blueberries? Our neighbor farmers at Free Will Farm are offering organic u-pick blueberries at their farm not far off Highway 35 on Finley Point Rd. Like us, they are asking folks to make an appointment to pick. You can reach them by call or text at (406) 261-2275. Tell ‘em Fat Robin sent you!

Here's a quick update about picking at Fat Robin...

We still have cherries! Nice fat Lapins. Lots of them. This mild summer has been kind to us.

We'd love some of you to take lots home. Or lots of you to take some home?

Here are our available times over the next few days:
Wednesday, from 8 until 2
Thursday, from 8 until 2
Friday, from 8 until 2
Saturday - closed
Sunday from 9 until 2

Just give me a call, 406-887-2869, to let me know when you'd like to come.

You will need some kind of step-stool. The best fruit usually hangs just out of reach. Remember your containers for your fruit, and we prefer cash or check or Venmo over a credit card.

Here's a quick update about picking at Fat Robin...

We still have appointments available, https://fatrobinorchard.com/harvest-time

We will be open for u-pick on Friday, August 1, and Saturday, August 2. For those of you with an appointment, we'll see you then! If you have an appointment on Sunday, August 3, or after, we will not have enough decent fruit available. You may want to try the two other organic orchards on Finley Point. They are Ben Orchard (I do not have their number. They are two miles past us on North Finley Point Rd.), or Spindrift, at 406-360-4412. They are located before you reach the state park on South Finley Point Rd.

The Lapins are available for those of you with an appointment. All other varieties are picked out. There are some Rainiers that have been in the cooler that you are welcome to sort through if you really need a Rainier fix.

This late in the season, the fruit usually hangs just out of reach, so plan accordingly. Remember your containers for your fruit, and we prefer cash or check over a credit card.

Hallelujah! Mother Nature was kind to us this year, and we have an actual crop. We were overdue!

We opened for u-pick on July 18.

As in previous years, we will be offering appointments for u-pick that you can schedule online. (see link above) The cherries available are Lapins, Lamberts, Montmorency (pie cherries), and Balaton (tart/sweet) and some Rainiers! Sweet cherries are $2.50/ #, either variety of tart cherries or Rainiers are $3/ #.

Please bring containers to take your cherries home. And you might find a step stool/ladder helpful, but nothing over 4’. And, of course, you are using it at your own risk.

If you have an appointment on Sunday, check out the website before you head to the orchard.

Funniest thing I heard today. Some very nice random folks from County 3 rolled up to the orchard today looking to pick some cherries. I had to say no as we were in the middle of a crazy harvest day. They said they were encouraged to come to Fat Robin by ChatGPT.

Greetings Friends of the Robin - As anxious as you all are to get your hands on some delicious organic Flathead cherries, you'll need to wait about 9 more days. They are plumping up nicely and soon will start storing sugar. I make no promises about when we will open right now, but it looks like we may start allowing u-pick the July 18. Appointments can be scheduled on the website starting Monday. Barring any surprises by Mother Nature, we look to have a good amount of cherries available and plenty of low-hanging fruit for the littles. Dear Fat Robin Friends -

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not open the orchard for cherry picking this year. We experienced a hard freeze after a warm-up in January and our sweet cherry buds were damaged. We didn't even have a bloom! We will likely not have any cherry products either.

We are deeply disappointed for you, our loyal customers, and for ourselves. U-pick is the mainstay of our business and essential to our mental health.

If we're able to find another orchard that offers u-pick cherries, we'll post it here. The status of our apple crop is still unknown.
