Unistar Foods Inc Unistar started with a vision of being part of something that is destined for greatness. Back in July of 1986, he ran the company while occupying a garage.

The people behind this great company reaped and harnessed their success based on determination and dedication in providing quality food products to the burgeoning Filipino-American community in the West Coast. Owners Alvin and Carol Yam started from scratch and eventually rose to success. During the early days of the business, Unistar kicked off with just Alvin as the only employee. From there, th

e sole proprietors rolled the business into a company which is now being operated by 30 employees. In 1986, Unistar started providing quality meat and poultry products to Filipino-American restaurants and markets in Los Angeles county and neighboring counties. Whether it is pork, beef, lamb, poultry or seafood, Unistar delivers it fresh and by any slice, especially Filipino cuts.

“We want to professionalize the trade. We follow strict quality control. We see to it that there is temperature control from the warehouse to the trucks,” explains Yam. Unistar has really gone a long way since it started in 1986. In 1990, they extended their services in San Diego. In 1996, they targeted the neon lights of Las Vegas and they were accepted with open arms. Then in 1999, they started supplying their quality products in San Francisco. During the third quarter of this year, Unistar will be holding the groundbreaking of a new 30,000 square foot facility in downtown Pomona about a block away from the Metro Rail. The processing facility’s bigger size and features will allow Unistar to efficiently and effectively serve their existing clientele and ultimately, the Filipino American Community in other areas. The business has earned the respect of both the consumers and competitors including its American counterparts over the years. With the high quality of the products come very competitive and affordable prices. The company is also continually expanding their product lines, which currently include seafoods and even ice cream.

We will be resuming our regular Saturday hours, beginning tomorrow. We will be here from 6am-10am. Monday- Friday will remain at 6am to 12 Noon for now!

We are doing our best to take care of everyone’s needs during this challenging time. In order to ensure safety, we are asking everyone to please CALL THEIR ORDERS AHEAD to eliminate waiting time in our will call area.

We will also be asking walk in customers to place their order and leave their phone numbers, then return to the car where they will be called once the order is ready. Please return to the office to pay for the order and proceed to the will call pick up area to pick up the order.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we learn to acclimate to the current situation. Safety is our biggest priority and we are here to serve the community as we have done since day one.
