In our Drive-Thru, speed is important. But our Team Members aren’t robots chasing a timer. When these two cute faces pulled up to the window, our Team paused, grabbed two small cups of whipped cream, and took ten seconds to make someone smile.

"I made myself a promise: I never want to be in leadership."

That was Valentina 7 years ago.

From what she saw at her old restaurant job, being a leader just meant getting stressed out and told to "figure it out on your own." So when she joined our team at 18, she kept her head down in the kitchen. Her black chef coat was her security blanket—she was quiet, shy, and had zero desire to manage people or talk to guests.

The best leadership development doesn't happen in a conference room with a slide deck.

Sometimes it happens in a parking lot watching Josiah completely dominate everyone at hula hooping, grabbing late-night cookies in casual clothes, or laughing our way through a two-hour flight delay.

When we took our emerging leaders to Atlanta, our main goal wasn't to lecture them on strategy. It was to take off the work armor, step away from the restaurant floor, and just be human together.

You can’t ask a team to solve big problems if they don't know how to connect outside of a uniform first.

To our leadership team across Chick-fil-A Pompano Beach and Chick-fil-A Deerfield Beach: Efraim and I couldn’t be prouder of who you are, how you show up for each other, and what we are building together.
