Before she pulled the carriage for our daughter, Genna's wedding, before she attended mystery murder game night at our local museum, Tina had an NIL deal selling manure spreaders. This is Qortina. Qpid's mother. A mare we will always love.

A long weekend helped me to spend 28 hours driving two round trips to Ohio to get our new horses selected and back home and still be at Liam's IMSA graduation. Luckily, each of the William Ellingsons made one 14 hr trip with me. Regarding calm, good minds, these three horses are as good as we've ever brought home. Our goal was to buy the two best minded horses at Ashland. Time will tell, but they sure seem great so far. We got Lot 14 (Von) and Lot 29 (Willis). We liked Von so much, that we stopped to buy his mother (Angel) on the way home.
Thank you to Daniel and Debra for a great auction, Henry and Nettie for two great horses. Thank you to the Stutzmans for Willis, a horse they described as broke, broke, broke. Seems to be true. And a special thanks to Lou Sutton for helping me to bid as we drove back home, watching the auction live on our cell phone.

Proud that our 4H club sponsors a practice show each year. It's a low key event that focuses more on coaching than ribbons. Prizes are candy and temporary horse tattoos. The young 4H'ers are just learning. The older 4H'ers are tuning up young horses. In one photo, you'll see a larger horse and a green mini desensitizing each other. One new judge was from out of state and commented that she had never seen so many and such good minded Haflingers. But by the end of the day she was thinking she might need to get one.

First day of driving drill team. If we would have cancelled for the rain forecast, we would have missed the rainbow. Grandpa always said, "Make hay when the sun shines." Great night, we barely got a sprinkle.

It rained in the morning, but we made it out to the first local show of the season and had a bit of fun.

Thanks to all who wished us well on the tornado thing that nicked our property last night. It really was not a big deal. What is a big deal is your friends and family that rush right over to help you clean up the mess. Bubba brought his whole crew over early this morning. The seven us us made very quick work of the cleanup. Thankful for friends and family. Including Bubba, who called me a Fat "Butt" today in defense of his momma. We joke a lot when we're working.

I guess we got lucky with the tornados in the area. Something exploded my neighbor's back shed. Left a trail of sheet metal pointing straight towards my farm. Took out four trees and part of my fence, aimed straight at my house. But I can find no more damage. It will take me a few hours to clean up the trees and fix the fence. We're all safe.

Happy 20th Birthday, Cinderella SGH!!! Mika made her a little cake today and was kind enough to share some photos with me. Looks a touch warmer in California than Illinois today.

We're still so proud of the first Haflinger we ever bred, Cinderella SGH. Sometimes I find photos of her online. I once visited her in California, about 15 years ago. Cinder's mother, Cassie MPA, was our first Haflinger. Cinder was born 20 years ago this weekend. Cinderella's youngest sister, Cassie's Annie SGH, is the only sibling we have left. But I know there are some good ones out there. Please share a photo if you have a Cassie baby.
