Welcome Summer with this special, limited release of Huckleberry Cider!
For those who don't know me personally, my father passed this last July. He was an avid forager and would bring home buckets of freshly picked wild blackberries (the small black gold that you find hiding in the brush off Joyce logging roads). Or the huckleberries which grow on spindly bushes, reaching out from the shaded woods (Dad's favorite picking spots were Discovery Bay & Kalaloch).
After cleaning out his home, I found the last hoard of frozen huckleberries. I made a syrup out of this small fortune to try to make it last. I infused it with a 15-gallon batch of locally pressed Sequim cider. I only had enough to give it a nice color and a light taste of wild berry. It was a labor of love and a small tribute to the memory of my father.
The first batch dropped at next door gastropub and I'll update when the others make a landing.
When you grab one, lift a glass to a great guy.
Here's to you dad!!
