Initial growth burned back and fertilized. 2nd year Magnums are still "babies" and don't get burned. They are growing like crazy!

Someone asked me this weekend why we burn. There's several reasons.

1) It helps reduce disease and fungus that may have over-wintered.
2) The early growth bines are often hollow and don't produce as well. The 2nd growth bines will be stronger and produce more hops😁
3) It helps predict our "training" schedule. In 4 weeks (Memorial weekend) they'll have grown enough to be strung up.

Finally....the harvest is complete.

We had a great , but overwhelming, harvest this year with almost 3x as many hops! We left probably 4-5lb behind because we physically didnt have the the space/time to dry with other work and family obligations.

We'll be making changes for next year since we have some hops still maturing. And thanks to North Kinde Hops for some drying advice which sped up the process!

Here's to another year of providing hops to our locals!

Finally got all the hops harvested!

Still need to get everything dried, but stopping for a much needed break for some Thumb Coast IPA.
