Lately, we’ve been seeing and hearing a lot of misinformation about Gaff’s and our beef program. One rumor in particular is that “Gaff’s doesn’t know where their beef comes from.”
Nothing could be further from the truth.
At Gaff’s, we know exactly where our beef comes from because we work directly with independent farms and trusted suppliers that meet the standards our family has built its reputation on for generations.
Our primary beef program comes from Nebraska, a state known worldwide for producing some of the finest beef available. Nebraska’s climate, abundant grasslands, and generations of cattle-raising expertise help produce the rich marbling and flavor people expect from premium steakhouse-quality beef.
The cattle are grass-fed, grain-finished, and raised holistically. They are raised without vaccines or growth hormones. No mRNA, none of that!
We have also partnered with a Florida ranching family because we believe supporting local agriculture matters.
That’s why we’re proud to offer beef from Quincey Cattle Company, a family-owned Florida cattle operation producing some of the best Florida beef we’ve ever tasted.
Their cattle are:
✅ Certified Fresh From Florida
✅ GAP Step 4 Animal Welfare Certified
✅ Grass-fed and grain-finished
✅ Hormone free
✅ Vaccine free
✅ Born, raised, and harvested in Florida
GAP Step 4 certification requires high animal welfare standards, significant pasture access, no feedlots, humane handling practices, and independent third-party audits to verify compliance.
But Gaff’s is about more than beef.
We are third-generation butchers, with a fourth generation already learning the trade and helping in our stores. Our grandfather, Andy Gaffka, started Gaff’s in 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. In the early 1980s, our family relocated to Volusia County, where we’ve proudly served our community ever since.
Today, Gaff’s remains 100% family-owned and family-operated. We live here, work here, and are proud to be part of the community we serve. When you choose to shop locally, you’re helping support small businesses that create local jobs, invest in their communities, and keep traditions alive for future generations.
We welcome questions about our products, our sourcing, and our practices. Transparency has always been important to us, and we’re always happy to talk about the food we sell. Our passion is providing quality meats and specialty foods while preserving the craft of butchery that has been passed down through generations. We’re simply butchers doing what we do best—just like our grandpa did.
Thank you for trusting our family since 1947.
