Satellite controlled goats now available for rent, $10 per goat per day! Must hire at least 3 goats at a time, $300 minimum, preference shown to larger jobs and longer stays.
While these goats specialize in controlling invasive plant species like Himalayan blackberry and scotch broom, at this time of year a person also begins to think about fire danger. Our current jobsite at the Jefferson County Transfer Station was originally a targeted grazing operation focused on poison hemlock, Himalayan blackberry and scotch broom. However, due to our training period for the new GPS virtual fence containment system, we arrived there later in the season than intended and now it seems almost as much a fire-safing job as it is a mitigation of invasive plant species.
Goats can be very effective at reducing or eliminating fire danger by eating down fast burning light fuels like grass and dangerous ladder fuels like thick brush, stopping wildfires at just the right time- before they ever start! If fire danger is a concern in your home, a yearly visit from goats could create a much more defensible wildfire scenario and significantly increase the fire safety on your property, while at the same time targeting invasive plant species and preserving valuable grasslands.
