This Land Is host and mother to many businesses and projects. Our gardens provide flowers, food, medicine and the magic for weddings and celebration. The Weavers Grove holds our spiritual center and sanctuary, a place to wander and connect to land and spirit. The Farm supports our flock of Icelandic sheep, Compass Rose Wool Mill and our many fledgling start ups.

Join us August 8 for our drop spindle class!

The trail now leads away from the river toward the Circle of Grandmothers. Pulling the spindle from our belt and wool from our pouch, we begin the rhythmic steps of spindle spinning: knot, twist, draft, over one, under two… down the path we go to the Circle of Grandmothers.

Our lectures will be focused on temperate climate permaculture in urban and rural environments. Some of the topics that will be discussed in the lecture series include:

Principles & Ethics of Permaculture
Sustainable Regional Food Production
Small Scale Designs for Yards and Gardens
Earth and the Soil Food Web
Water Conservation and Resiliency
Wind, Weather & Climate Patterns
Fire and How to Live on our Daily Sun
Life/Death Cycles and Working with Natural Patterns
Designing Integrated Systems with the Web of Life
Social and Structural Community Building

Classes will be held in the new Weaver’s Hall Yurt weather permitting – we may also gather outdoors so come prepared to learn both inside and out. This consists of observation walks and interaction with the permaculture demonstration site.

The purpose of these classes is to spread the knowledge and the joy of practicing permaculture and to empower our community to create a resilient and healthy world.

Many of us are hungry for a deeper connection with the land we live on and a deeper understanding of the water, soil, plants, and animals that share that land with us

Permaculture is a web of the deep wisdom that humanity has accumulated over the millennia through a relationship of observation, symbiosis, reciprocity, and respect for the land

Our journey continues along the river, with prepared fiber in our baskets. Now we need a vessel—a bowl or hollow filled with stories, a place to hold our tools. Using only the river and washing stone, we transform soft, clean wool into a sturdy felted vessel with water, pressure, and the stories we carry.

Join us on a mythic journey as we explore fiber arts through the lens of connection to northern European ancestors.

Together, we will explore this ancient path of fiber and reweave the cloth of sacred relationships with the plants and animals that give us fiber, tools, color, and myth.

This is an annual workshop that unfolds as eight living stories, woven together in a single tapestry. You may step into the entire cloth, or choose the threads that speak to your hands and heart.
