Since emus obviously don’t have fingers the only way they have to explore new things is to bite or peck. Chicks will do this quite a bit but as they get older the frequency decreases. Robert is very curious and outgoing and we wouldn’t change a thing about him. Just remember to be patient with your emu chicks and know that they aren’t trying to hurt you, it’s their way of touching and feeling objects to learn about the world they live in.

The emu breeding season has come to an end. Thank you to all that have purchased eggs and chicks. We’ll see you again in late November or early December.
