When it’s your 5th birthday & there’s a whole gelato shop named after you... you get your own social media spotlight💛

Meet Miss Honey. 🍯I get asked often where the name "Honey’s" came from... and the funny part is there was absolutely no big business plan behind it. No branding meeting. No long list of names. It actually started as a joke.

When we first started talking about opening a gelato shop, I told my husband I was going to name it Honey’s, mostly because I knew it would get under his skin. I’m the animal lover in the house, and after being together for nearly 20 years, he’s pretty much learned to just roll with it. But after saying it a few times, I couldn’t shake it. It stopped sounding like a joke and started sounding like the name this place was always supposed to have. And now I genuinely couldn't imagine calling it anything else.

The best part is, Honey has absolutely no idea there’s a gelato shop with her name on it. She’s not necessarily the favorite kid, but having your name across the top of a building does make a pretty strong argument. 😂

Today, our 4-legged Honey turns 5. She’s the sweetest girl and is happiest when given attention, treat-treats, and car rides... and she is a professional little lizard hunter. And today she'll be celebrating with her own little scoop of Honey's Homestyle Creamery!

It’s a birthday in our house and we feel like celebrating! In honor of this guy turning 13, we’re giving 13% OFF blenders today. 🎉

When you’re running a small business, you’re running a family business. And sometimes that means putting your kids to work… after all, it builds character. 😉 Kash has spent plenty of time behind the scenes at Honey’s washing dishes, helping wherever he’s needed, providing the comedic relief, and taking his role as professional taste tester very seriously.

He’s grown up right alongside a lot of this, so it only feels right to let Honey’s celebrate him too. Please help us wish Kash the happiest 13th birthday 🫶

My best friend is going to be maaaaad I posted this because she is exactly the kind of person who will do all of this and then be personally offended that anyone noticed. 😂

I read something recently that said when your vision board starts showing up on your camera roll, make sure you stop long enough to notice it. And for some reason, that one stuck with me.

A year and a half ago, Honey’s was still basically a vision board with a lease. She was in that same shop with me late at night helping hang decorations, screw things together and make my crazy ideas exist in real life. Every single ice cream cone on that back wall was hand hung by her, while the two of us and our husbands laughed our way through getting this place ready to open.

Fast forward a year and a half and she showed up on a random Wednesday night for gelato and somehow ended up on trash duty. 😂

Her kids were right there with us too, six little eager hands helping me wash dishes while she changed out trash and swept the floors. And of course her husband got drafted too. I guess when your wife’s best friend owns a gelato shop, sometimes you get recruited. No application. No interview. Just grab a trash bag and welcome aboard.

And somewhere in the middle of all of that, I realized I was looking at the exact thing that quote was talking about.

Honey’s used to exist on a vision board. Now it exists in my camera roll. Full of people, memories, late nights, dirty dishes, laughter and the people who keep showing up for us.

None of this happens without the people who love us, talk about us, share us, support us and apparently take our trash out without being asked.

And yes, before anyone calls the Department of Labor, the tiny closing crew was paid out. 😂

Tonight, I noticed. And man, I’m grateful for my camera roll 🫶

In case you didn’t know, we have a whole patio seating area over here at Honey’s — and she just got a little upgrade. We added new tables and pink umbrellas, and it turned out pretty darn cute if I do say so myself.

Now, are the umbrellas the exact soft pink Amazon led me to believe they’d be? No. 😂 They came in a little louder than expected, but pink is pink and we’re rolling with it. Come grab some gelato and enjoy our patio with us.

Today has been A DAY. Not a bad one, just one of those days where I’ve been everywhere, doing everything, answering 61 unread texts, and giving 80% of myself to ten different things because there simply wasn’t enough time for the other 20%. I even managed to mess up my own schedule and had to call one of these pretty faces to come in early, so major shoutout to my girl for showing up for me when I needed her.

And then this FaceTime call came through.

This. Call. Made. My. Day.

One thing I preach constantly at Honey’s is just be kind. You never know what someone else is carrying, and you never know when one tiny interaction, one smile, one quick visit, one “hey, we’re here!” might be exactly what somebody needed.

Today, I was the somebody. Today, I got to be on the receiving end of their goodness.

Seeing these sweet faces pop up on my screen in the middle of the chaos was that little moment for me. The reset. The reminder. The good tucked right into the middle of a very full day.

These girls. This shop. This whole crazy little world we’ve built here. I am just profoundly grateful for all of it. 🫶
