We’re excited to be breaking in our new Husky Farm Equipment manure spreader from Ortel Supply Inc to be applying our “used cow feed” to the fields to be used as fertilizer for next years crop. Thank you to Atlas Ag Services, LLC as well for handling our on road manure hauling needs as well as frac tank. 💩 😁

Here’s a follow up of our cover crop progression. Our fields received a manure application and the plants are using the nutrients from the manure to grow. We love to see our fields “greening back up” as we move closer to winter and we are thankful for the recent stretch of warm weather.

Now that we’ve finished harvesting our corn for silage we are working on planting a cover crop in those fields. We use a no till drill as pictured to plant wheat and rye that will get established this fall and break dormancy in the early spring to provide the soil with a root mass that helps prevent erosion and improves the soil organic matter. We have found this to be a very beneficial practice over the years and strive to get all of our acres “covered” if the weather allows us to. Wyoming County Soil & Water Conservation District
