Kami says his Pake grew some really big yellow onions this year! 🧅

Look at this beauty our little Veggie Boy is proudly holding!

These are 1015Y Super Sweet Yellow Onions — Texas’s most famous sweet onion variety. They have off-white flesh that’s incredibly sweet and mild with excellent flavor. Perfect for salads, slicing, grilling, sandwiches, or cooking. And the best part? They contain very little pyruvic acid, so they won’t make you cry like regular onions!

We will have a nice selection available this Saturday at the Clovis Farmers Market.

• Large onions: $1.00 each
• Bundles: $3.00

Come see us and grab some while they last!

Thank You, American Heritage Bank!

A heartfelt thank you to Gordon Morris and AmericanHeritage Bank for graciously allowing us to use their parking lot for our mobile farm stand during the off-season of the Farmers Market.

We truly appreciate your support of our farm and your continued encouragement of agriculture throughout Eastern New Mexico—whether large or small.

Partnerships like these help strengthen our local food system and make it possible for families to enjoy fresh, locally grown food close to home.

And to our faithful customers—it’s time for a change of scenery!

Our Brassicas are ready! 🥦🥬

We have beautiful Twister Cauliflower, Emerald Crown Broccoli, and Excalibur Green Cabbage available today at our mobile farm stand in Clovis.

📍 Location: American Heritage Bank
🕙 Time: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

🚨 Important note on broccoli and cauliflower: This is an “all or nothing” crop right now. These heads are mature and ready, but once they’re harvested, we won’t have more broccoli or cauliflower until the Fall harvest. If you’ve been wanting fresh local broccoli or cauliflower, today is a great day to grab some!

We also have nice Excalibur Green Cabbage with several more pickings still coming, so we’ll have cabbage available for a while longer.

All of these are fresh from our fields this morning. Come see us — we’d love to visit with you!

🐞 Releasing the next round of ladybugs into the Brassica House today! These beneficial insects are voracious natural predators that devour aphids and other soft-bodied pests before they can damage our brassicas. No harsh chemicals needed — just God’s design at work keeping our plants strong, healthy, and producing clean, vibrant greens for the farm stand.

Another item checked off the list ✅

Korlynn and I (along with two of our little Veggie Boys) tackled the deep cleaning of our “cold room” this morning. Whew — what a job!

Thankfully Pake had already put the scaffolding together, because Korlynn needed every bit of that extra height to scrub the ceiling.

It feels good to get these big cleaning jobs done before the busy season really kicks in. A clean, sanitized space means our produce and eggs stay fresh and safe for all of you.

Grateful for helping hands — big and small — and for the chance to get this one behind us!

Telling the whole story… even the not-so-glamorous parts. 🧼

When Chris and I decided to share our farm life with you, we made a commitment to be real — not just the pretty garden photos and happy chickens, but the everyday work that goes into growing and selling food safely.

This morning I got up early, before the barn had a chance to heat up, to deep clean and sanitize our large refrigerator. Keeping our cooler at a steady 41 degrees is important, but so is making sure it’s thoroughly cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis.

For us, growing beautiful, healthy vegetables and farm-fresh eggs also means taking food safety seriously.

As farmers market season begins, we want you to know that we’re doing our best to follow proper food safety practices every step of the way.

Both Chris and I hold ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification, which is nationally accredited.

This past week we also completed FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) training for Bethel Boer and are now waiting for our certificate to arrive.

In simple terms, FSMA is a federal food safety law that focuses on preventing foodborne illness before it happens — rather than just reacting after a problem occurs. It requires farms to have plans in place to identify potential risks and put controls in place to keep produce safe from the field to your table. We’re working hard to meet those standards.

We also do our best to fully comply with New Mexico state regulations and NM Farmers Market guidelines.

Now it’s time to head back outside to clean and sanitize our food crates and get the peddler trailer ready for the 2026 veggie season!

We’re looking forward to seeing many of you soon. Thank you for supporting local farmers who are trying to do things the right way.

Today’s experiment at Bethel Boer Farm🌿

We’re trying out the Florida weave on our San Ardo Poblano pepper plants to help protect them from our “delightful” Eastern New Mexico wind. 🙄

The Florida weave is a simple string support system. We set metal stakes along the rows and run string back and forth between the stakes in a weaving pattern, gently sandwiching the plants between the strings. As the peppers grow taller, we’ll add more levels of string. This creates a supportive wall that helps keep the plants upright without needing individual cages for every plant.

We’re hoping this method will give the peppers a little extra stability when those strong winds come whipping through. It’s a common technique used on tomatoes and peppers in windy areas, so we thought we’d give it a try this year.

Always learning, always experimenting! We’ll keep you posted on how it works for us.
