3 little piggies in a water tote! Two of last year's litter already were butchered. These 3 are hanging out getting fatter for now. We enjoyed fresh breakfast sausage this morning. 🍳

It's a lot of work, but it is so rewarding raising our own food! 🐖

Almost 30 kids put in for the pig scramble 🐖 at the Ossipee Valley Fair this year and our nephew Matthew B was drawn! There were 10 pigs and 12 kids drawn. He was none too impressed when they called his name and the announcer told him he could be one of the 2 kids who didn't get a pig. (He's also one very large 8 year old 😅 who looked a little suspect...)

But once she said GO! All bets were off. Matt totally got into it and was one of the first kids to grab a pig and get it in the bag! He even went back in to help another little girl by catching another pig and helping her get it in the sack.

We are so proud of him for stepping outside of his comfort zone and catching a pig!

So without further ado, everyone meet Petunia! 🌸 We're not quite certain what breed she is, but she'll likely weigh more than our AGH boar, Chonk. She's figured out her place with Penelope and "Pignelope," aka Nell, as the other little pigs were picking on her. We'll keep you updated on how big she gets!

Dear old Moxie dog, aka Mox, aka Boogie dog, aka Ox Ox crossed the rainbow bridge this evening. 🌈

14 years young, she lived out her last years as the best farm dog we could ask for. She loved snuggling the bottle lambs, eating manure, and sitting on the porch observing the road and the farm. But most of all, she loved her people, even the little grabby ones. 🤎

Get plenty of treats from Gram, Papa, and Grampa Larry. Go swimming in every body of water. Chase every chipmunk and squirrel. Until we meet again.

Bees are back on the farm! After a few years off from attempting bee keeping, Mazie decided to get an overwintered hive as Mike's Christmas gift. Mike opted to buy a second package so we could have 2.

Now that Lawrence is old enough to learn, we got him his own beekeeping suit! He's still pretty nervous, but he's getting better. 🐝

So when we first started working on the farmhouse, we found a few marbles. And then Meme kept finding more marbles. And so it became a running joke about how we'd lost our marbles taking on such a big project and collected them all in a jar.

The family cleaned our Gram and Gramp's last weekend and someone found a container of marbles. We of course saved them and ended up having to get bigger jar to put them in (one we found tearing down what was left of the old brooder house).

I hope Gram and Gramp are proud of the work we've done. Although I do think we should have named it The Lost Marbles Farm. 🙃

First lambs of the year were born a week ago today! Twins, ewe and ram, out of Clarice - one of our bottle babies from 2020. And then this big brown ram out of one of the other ewes from 2020s.

The plus side of running a smaller flock these days is that we're now 1/4th of the way through lambing!

When you get fresh shavings and the zoomies!

Even the gilt Nelly was getting in on the fun, although we didn't really get her on camera as well as the little ones.

We started freeze drying today on the farm as a new way to preserve food.

Penelope finally decided to have her babies on Saturday! They're all so tiny and cute. We moved them into the barn so they have better coverage than the hut in the paddock for the cows and rams.
