SUMMER CAMPS AT DOWN ON THE FARM
Children in grades Pre-K through 4th grades will experience hands-on learning in a variety of ways. Kids get to be creative.

Down on the Farm- 120 acres in Porter, Oklahoma where we handcraft goat milk soaps, lotions, scrubs, shampoo & conditioner bars, pet soaps, beard care products, and so much more! 🧴💚 The camp director is a public school teacher who has a love for children and animals. We offer 4 different camps throughput the month of June.At Farm Camp, children will experience working with animals , gardening, and farm jobs. Science Camp provides a hands on approach by performing fun and interesting experiments. Stem activities are also a main focus in the curriculum. Craft Camp offers fun crafts with a variety of mediums. Cooking Camp focuses on foods that kids like and ways to make them more nutritional. All camp curriculums include crafts, games, and snacks.

THE JACK SHACK IS EMPTY!!

It’s that time of year when it starts to get too cold for our Jack. Even though the weather is great for a few more days, I have to move him inside when I have manpower for lifting an 85 pound tortoise. So for the cold months he is inside with me, 2 cats, and a cockatiel. Jack does enjoy eating hay, watching tv, and trying to catch the cat’s tail when he is fool enough to jump in his winter home.

I have never been a lover of winter weather but the seasons were created for a reason. So Jack and I will make the best of it.

If you own 15 emus, is that considered an Emu Ranch?

These birds are actually a lot of fun. Some think they look creepy, but cars drive by slowly and little kids, with windows down, are talking to them and waving. They love them!!!!

When you go inside the pen, be watching because they jump out of the tall weeds chasing each other. Say what you want but I enjoy petting them and showing others how sweet they can be. At night I can hear the females drumming. This sound is how I tell which are males and females. Emus remind me of what it must have been like to live during the dinosaur times.

One thing I know for sure is I won’t be hatching babies this next year.

15 is plenty!!!!

FOAMING SUGAR SCRUBS

Saturday at The Rose District Farmer’s Market these foaming sugar scrubs will be available in seasonal scents. One Pumpkin is already sold, but we have several. We only have 5 more Saturdays at the market. So come see us from 8:00-12:00.

With the temperatures getting cooler our Body Butters will be coming back to the Rose District Farmer’s Market this Saturday. It will be available in three scents but limited quantities. These make your skin feel so luxurious since it contains several good quality butters. So don’t miss out. We will be open from 8:00-12:00 under the large pavilion.

This guy gave us a huge scare two weeks ago. When we start feeding the farm, Hank, is the first one to get fed.

WHY YOU ASK?

Well if he doesn’t get his food first he starts throwing troughs, other animals if they get too close, or anything between him and his “plate”.

But back to the scare.
We noticed that he wouldn’t eat, had a snotty nose, and had difficulty getting up and down. Also he sat a lot. That wasn’t “Hank Behavior”. Then he didn’t come up for several days and we had so much going on that we couldn’t check the pasture. A week from Monday, James went to the back and found him eating grass. What a relief. All of us absolutely love Hank, who was a bottle baby.

It has taken a full week for him to get back to normal. He is on full feed now and is running after any animal who gets too close to his food.

So happy for this outcome because giving him a shot is no easy task. He doesn’t fit in the squeeze chute.

IT ALL STARTED WITH ONE BIRD😬

Then there were three birds.

I needed to go to my mom’s house but couldn’t get the cat to come in. He is small enough that those birds could have carried him away. I finally got him in and started down the driveway. There was a dead possum in the grass and that was the attraction.

This reminded me of the Alfred Hitchcock movie, “The Birds”, which I had watched not too long ago.
As I approached the gate they flew away but one perched above the entry. In all there were seven birds soaring above waiting for me to leave.

Pretty creepy!!!😳

WE ARE READY!!!!

4 Tons of Blessings Mercantile has been restocked and is ready for the Fall Festival crowd. This is always an exciting time for Coweta and the surrounding areas. So let’s support all of the local businesses on Broadway, the food trucks and vendors. But above all let’s have fun and enjoy being with family and friends.

We love our vendor friends at the Rose District Farmer’s Market!!!!
Tara bought some seasoning packets from KJ Pepper Plus and used it on some chicken in the crockpot. Everyone said it was fabulous!!

Next Saturday stop by their booth and start creating some delicious, cooked from home meals.

S’mores and Graham were put in this pen to
“weedeat” it all down. They are so good at their jobs that it will only take a few days. When they are finished 3 baby emus will be able to move to their larger pen.
