🐮📚 WONDERING WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY?
We’ve been busy doing something we’re incredibly passionate about here at J&R Meat Company… EDUCATING THE NEXT GENERATION OF AGRICULTURAL PROFESSIONALS! 👏
We recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Taft High School Veterinary Science class to our facility in Porterville for a firsthand look at the processing of livestock from the Kern County Fair!
This unique educational experience was made possible through our Kern County Fair Livestock Auction Exhibitor Carcass Observation Invitation, an opportunity we extend to exhibitors whose animals are being processed at our facility.
What started as an invitation to livestock exhibitors became an opportunity to bring an entire classroom of students into a real-world, USDA-inspected meat processing environment!
These students had the opportunity to observe, ask questions, and gain a better understanding of what happens to livestock after they leave the show ring. From carcass processing to meat cutting, there is an incredible amount of science, skill, and knowledge involved in producing the meat that ultimately reaches consumers’ tables.
At J&R Meat Company, we believe some of the most valuable lessons happen outside the classroom, where education meets hands-on industry experience.
We are incredibly proud to open our doors, share our knowledge, and help bridge the gap between raising livestock and understanding the meat industry.
❤️ Because education shouldn’t stop at the show ring, and neither should the opportunities we provide our youth!
