Cinco de Mayo, the start of one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Oregon! For more than 30 years, Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association - PGSCA has hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta that has become one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Oregon. Three full days packed with festivities and culturally immersive programming at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. Oregon Historical Society shared with us this classic photo of native Oregonian James Beard, often called one of the country's first foodies. He was raised in a Portland boardinghouse run by his mother, Mary Elizabeth, and their beloved boardinghouse cook, Jue-Let. Among many accomplishments, including hosting the first national cooking program in television history, he fervently believed in sourcing fresh local foods and products from small family-run businesses and above all, taught the value and importance of cooking seasonally and simply. Lights, Camera, Action! 🎬️ Recently, some members from KUNP/KATU and Oregon Department of Agriculture visited the Lake Oswego store to film a Spanish Language commercial focusing on garden and spring planting. The Lake Oswego team enjoyed getting to "show off" their store and observe the work that goes into filming a commercial!

This morning at Winters Farm at Portland Farmers Market we asked for nettles advice and farmer Marvin delivered! He demonstrates how you roll it and taste it without the sting. Marvin said he enjoys many uses for nettles, but that two of his favorites are in tea for an antihistamine effect and in lasagna instead of spinach when you want to change things up a bit.
