Even though I was focused on coordinating, I did manage to pick up my camera and shoot during the retreat!

It felt so good to practice and made the perfect subject.

Their presentation was thoughtful and beautiful with unique touches throughout. On top of that, each of the dishes was layered with flavors that elevated the local produce and made you come back for more.

They certainly know how to make the experience memorable!

+ We all know moms love chocolate, but did you know dads do too - when you pair it with ?

Why not combine the two and celebrate the father figure in your life with a Chocolate Hazelnut Old Fashioned made with !

Makerโ€™s Mark 46 is all about legacy, taking the traditional and putting a personal touch on it.

This unique whiskey is woody, rich and oaky due to the Virgin French Oak Staves. Notes of caramel, vanilla and baking spice create a perfect semi-sweet finish and lend themselves perfectly to a classic cocktail.

Just like Makerโ€™s Mark is a twist on a traditional family recipe, this Chocolate Hazelnut Old Fashioned is a twist on a classic Old Fashioned.

Combine 1/2-3/4 parts Hazelnut Simple Syrup with 2 to 3 dashes of Chocolate Bitters in a chocolate rimmed glass. Stir to combine. Add a large ice cube, followed by 2 parts Makerโ€™s Mark 46. Stir 10-20 times and serve with love to any special father figure!

Hazelnut Simple Syrup - Combine 1 cup water with 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup chopped Hazelnuts in a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, turn the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 mins. Cool, strain and use in your favorite cocktails!

Now go get your dad or father figure something from the link in my bio!

This Holiday Gin Fizz is the perfect Christmas time cocktail!

Tart cranberries, sweet oranges and herbaceous gin make up this beautiful and scrumptious libation. Plus the egg white foam will have you feeling like a professional bartender!

In a cocktail shaker with NO ice add 2 oz Gin, 2 oz Cranberry Syrup (or Juice), 1 oz Orange Juice, 1/2 oz Lemon Juice and 1 egg white. Shake for 15 - 20 seconds. Add ice to the shaker and continue to shake vigorously for 30 seconds more. Pour into your glass and top with Club Soda. The club soda will create the egg white foam on the top like magic!

Cheers!

What is your favorite holiday cocktail?

Sugar and spice and everything nice! These Spiced Chocolate Crinkle Cookies are sure to please.

Just like the original Chocolate Crinkles you know and love, but spiced up with cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg!

These cookies were inspired by my recent trip to the island of Grenada where all of these spices are grown and harvested. They also grow cacao and produce some of the most wonderful chocolate and cocoa!

Simply cream together 1/2 cup butter and 1 1/2 cups sugar in a stand mixer. Then mix in 4 eggs, one at a time, followed by 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. In a separate bowl whisk together 1 cup cocoa powder, 2 cups AP flour, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon ground ginger and 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg. (Feel free to add more of the spices if you like a stronger flavor of any of them.)

Now slowly mix in the dry ingredients until you have a uniform dough. Cover or wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.

Roll the dough into uniform balls and roll in powdered sugar. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 - 18 minutes.

Enjoy!

The current weather has me in a mood and soup is definitely the answer...specifically Silky Onion Soup!

My Silky Onion Soup is essentially French Onion Soup that has been pureed. This creates a richer flavor and adds a nice body to this comforting classic!

This recipe was actually inspired by my trip to Lisbon. We were at a small cafe and they brought out lovely steaming bowls of pureed onion soup with fresh goat cheese and olive oil on topโ€ฆ. I was instantly in love and have changed my onion soup making ways since that experience!

You can find the recipe up on the blog!

Zucchini, carrots and green onions are covered in a creamy sauce and nestled in-between two layers of crunchy, buttery stuffing.

Happy Fall Friday! These Pumpkin Pretzels are just too good and I couldn't wait to share them with you all!

Homemade Pumpkin Pretzels are soft and chewy and can be made savory or sweet! And I can vouch for the fact that this is one of those recipes you'll get asked to make again and again....

Plus the addition of pumpkin adds a boost of flavor and nutritional value without a lot of extra calories.

Dissolve 1 pkg of instant yeast in a bowl with 1 cup warm water and 1 Tbsp packed brown sugar. Let that bloom for a minute while you melt 1 Tbsp butter. Then add the butter and 1/2 cup pumpkin puree and stir. Finally add 3 1/2 cups of flour and mix until you have a dough, adding more flour if necessary.

Then knead the dough for 5 - 7 minutes, until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl and allow to rise until doubled, around an hour.

Turn onto a clean surface and divide into 8 equal portions. Roll out into approximately 24" long ropes and twist into pretzels. Boil for 1 minute in a mix of 10 cups of water and 2/3 cup of baking soda.

Place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Decide whether you want them to be savory or sweet. For savory pretzels, brush with an egg wash and sprinkle with salt, cheese or herbs. For sweet bagels don't brush with anything yet.

Bake for 12 - 14 minutes in a 425 degree oven, turning half way through. Remove from the oven. For the sweet pretzels, brush with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

Serve with corresponding dips like - pumpkin spice cream cheese, cinnamon buttercream, honey mustard or warm beer/cheese!

Who else loves making homemade candy?

Candy recipes were some of the first I wanted to learn as a child...and this had nothing to do with actually liking candy! (Full disclosure: I was the kid who gave away most of their Halloween candy or forgot it even existed ๐Ÿ˜‚) To me, candy always seemed like a challenge, and I loved a good challenge.

Thankfully not all candy recipes are difficult and I'm happy to report that these chocolate cups are no challenge! Actually, Nut Butter and Jelly cups are almost too easy to make!

These cups are lined with rich chocolate and packed with hazelnut butter by and a touch of โ€œbloodyโ€ homemade chokecherry jelly making them extra festive!

Happy Almost Halloween!
