Anandwan was established in 1949 by Baba Amte with a hope of giving marginalised people a dignified life through self-reliance and restoring a sense of belonging which they had lost due to the ill treatment at the hands of society.

Anandwan is located in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, India.

An update after a long time- we have an exciting new collaboration with a local bakery. You can now buy Shrikhand and Chivda

🥔 recently opened a store across from Findley elementary school. They are serving delicious fresh from the oven sourdough breads (among other things) made only with three ingredients(salt,water,flour) and no preservatives added! Check them out!

🌹Rose Shrikhand is back this time, so if you are craving rose don't forget to stock it up!

👶As always, proceeds from sales of this month will go to charity, this month we are supporting . Diapers are not covered under any federal or state benefit vouchers (food stamps), and having had a baby last year, we felt it was a cause worth supporting so families in need don't have to make a choice between basic sustenance and sanitation. As we celebrate the third year of Food for Thought, we look back on a journey filled with both ebbs and flows. In 2024, we experienced the pain of losing a dear friend, while also embracing the joy of welcoming a new family member. We forged new friendships with volunteers who shared our mission, and stood alongside colleagues navigating political challenges. Truly 2024 was a year ups and downs.

We are driven by the belief that kindness begets kindness. Through the little ways we can, we remain dedicated to spreading kindness through food. Here’s to another year ahead—brighter than before, bringing health, peace, and joy to everyone we serve.

About Vatsalya: Founders Late Smt. Sanjivani Raykar, Late Shri. G.A Damle, Late Dr. Shivram Athavale, Shri. Nijasure along with a few other philanthropists, intensely felt a need for starting a care and rehabilitation institute for the orphan, abandoned and destitute children.The main objective of the Trust is to 'care, protect and empower destitute and deprived members of the society with special emphasis on orphan/ destitute children and marginalized unskilled youth'.

We are excited to be catering Shrikhand for the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations tomorrow!

Ganesh Chaturthi is not just a celebration of the Hindu elephant headed Lord Ganesh, but for those of us from the state of Maharashtra, India, it reminds us of the warmth of our culture and community!

As always all the proceeds from these sales will be donated to charity. We are happy to support Portland based : Youth to youth this month working on children's education in India and the local Portland area.

Looking for brunch ideas for Mother's Day? Try waffles with fresh strawberries, some nuts and a dollop of Mango Shrikhand!!

It is forecasted to be a beautiful sunny day this Saturday in Portland. Come out and sample our four Shrikhand flavors. We are also bringing back Chivda, your beloved savory snack mix. Looking forward to seeing y'all.
