This week W**e Nerd is pouring a flight from La Soufrandière BRET BROTHERS JPhi BRET who started out as négociants themselves back in 2001, buying grapes from small, old-vine plots across Southern Burgundy and vivifying them with the same care as their own estate fruit.

It happens. Some grape varieties fall out of favor. Not because they’re lesser, but because they can be harder to grow, harder to sell, or just out of fashion.

W**e Nerd put together a flight that makes a case for three of them still hanging on in the Loire Valley: Menu Pineau, Romorantin and Grolleau Gris. A few grapes you won’t see very often but really worth getting to know. 🍇

This W**e Wednesday W**e Nerd is pouring three that lean into the shadows: Buffo’s Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo, Clos Saron’s rosé, and Sierra de Toloño’s Tempranillo-Garnacha rosado from Rioja. Same spirit, deeper hue. 🍷🍷🍷
