Cool Runnin L Farms – Biosecurity & Visitor Policy

As our breeding program continues to grow, we wanted to take a moment to formally share a policy we’ve followed unofficially for years.

For the health and safety of our horses, Cool Runnin L Farms maintains a seasonal biosecurity protocol during winter and spring, until the end of foaling season. Our breeding horses are managed separately from our riding horses during this time.

To protect our broodmares, foals, and older horses:
• We do not allow visitors in broodmare and foal areas
• We limit outside-horse exposure to the broodmare and foal herd
• We do not permit on-farm pickups or third-party handling involving the breeding herd

Our riding horses may continue to attend events or shows as scheduled, but strict separation protocols are maintained between herds.

When horses are transferring to new homes from our breeding program during this time period, pickup or delivery is coordinated off-site or by appointment once the horse is fully ready for transition, with the goal of minimizing stress and ensuring a single, calm move.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support as we prioritize the health of our horses and the long-term integrity of our program.

Our horses haven’t left our farm since the Branham Farms Arena show on October 11th and they will not be going anywhere until this is under control. We have too many hopes and dreams on our herd to risk them in any way.

🍂✨ Happy First Day of Fall from Cool Runnin L Farms! ✨🍂

The air is finally cooling, and so is our crew (well… most of them 😅). Here’s the latest on all of our horses — because we know y’all love them as much as we do!

🐴 Cicero (Cis) – Our 3-year-old gelding is looking more and more grey every day. Connor will be riding him this fall and winter to get some arena time. Cis was basically born broke and has been the perfect c**t for Owen and Connor to start with.

🍓 Strawberry Shortcake (Shorty) – Our 5-year-old sorrel splash mare has filled out beautifully. She even had her first “ride” — just a saddle and Connor being led around — and while she wasn’t sure at first, she never even offered to do a thing.

🔥 Tejon (Tay) – Our 1-year-old red dun filly is still trying to prove she’s smarter and tougher than Owen… and we aren’t sure she’s wrong! She’s doing so much better lunging and figuring out what’s asked of her, but she’s also a button-pushing, redheaded menace — and 100% my horse. 😉

🌧️ Rain – Our at least 20-year-old bay tobiano mare wants to be left alone, thank you very much. She’s 124 days bred today, and we’re counting down to a spring baby in April!

🤎 Reloj – Our big, beautiful 14-year-old buckskin roan mare is glowing right now. She’s cuddly, sweet, and the definition of an unproblematic queen (Owen’s opinion not requested). She’s 121 days bred, and we’ve got fingers crossed for a roan filly come April.

🌪️ Chigger – The 19-year-old legendary grey broodmare and head of the herd. She’s 92 days bred and has been acting “studdish,” just like she did with Tay — so maybe another red dun filly is cooking? If not, she’ll be available next year once her foal is weaned.

☀️ Santanna – Our 18-year-old palomino mare is busy being mom right now. She came up open this year, so once her foal goes home, she’ll be looking for a new home too.

⚡ Riff (aka CK for Cow Kicker) – Our almost 4-month-old palomino stud c**t has come a long way! He leads, picks up his feet, and no longer lives up to his nickname. He’ll be going home next month when his new family is ready.

🖤 Black Betty – Sweet Betty was a star at the TSCA State Show, even giving C**t his debut in the One Barrel Speed! She’s a saint for the boys and perfect for teaching them the ropes.

😂 Abby & Miley – Our mean pony mares (kidding… kinda). Abby is fat and half-feral from too much vacation, and Miley only wants pets in the field. If Owen finds a new main ride, Miley may be looking for a new home.

🍁 We’re so thankful for every one of these horses and for all the memories they’re making with us and the boys. Fall feels like a fresh start, and we’re looking forward to crisp mornings, fun shows, and plenty of ring time.

From our family (and herd) to yours — Happy Fall! 💛

10 years old. 3 years old.
Connor and Cicero — proof that trust and patience pay off. 🐴✨

This is Cicero’s very first time carrying Connor on his own in the round pen, and he handled it like he’s been doing it forever. Born and raised here, Cis has been a dream since day one.

Proud doesn’t even begin to cover it. ❤️

💫 Big bragging moment for both Connor & Cicero 💫

Cicero (aka Cis) is the very first foal we raised here on the farm — and honestly, he’s been a dream from the start. Owen was hands-on with him from the moment he was born, and it shows. This boy was basically born broke, never once tried a thing, and has carried Connor and C**t around more times than we can count being led.

What makes this moment so special? Our 10-year-old Connor is riding our 3-year-old unbroke c**t — all by himself — in the round pen. That’s trust, patience, and a bond that’s been built since day one. 🐴❤️

This fall and winter, Connor and Cicero will be hitting some shows together to get ring time under their belt and slowly start his riding career. We’ve always believed that a slow start leads to a long, happy riding life — and watching these two grow together has been amazing.

We couldn’t be prouder. Here’s to Connor, Cis, and all the incredible firsts still to come! 🙌✨

Is anyone else as over this Monday as Strawberry Shortcake (aka Shorty) is? 🥱🍓

We swear she’s either mid-yawn or giving Monday a piece of her mind. Either way… same, girl. Same. 😂

🌾🐴 Farm Update! 🐴🌾

It’s been another busy and blessed week here on the farm!

✨ Breeding update:
Rain is now 47 days bred and Reloj is 44 days bred—both progressing nicely and looking great! We’ll be heading back to the vet on July 24 with Reloj, Santanna, and Chigger to check on everyone and hopefully confirm a few more exciting foals in the making. 🤞🐴

🐎 Santanna’s c**t is growing like a w**d! He still doesn’t have an official name yet—that will be up to his owners when the time comes—but for now we’ve nicknamed him CK (“Cow Kicker”) since he isn’t too fond of having his legs and feet handled just yet. He’ll grow out of it as he matures, but it sure does suit him for now!

🌾 Hay season is officially wrapped!
All of our spring hay is baled and put up in the barn. We won’t have to think about it again until fall, and Owen couldn’t be happier about that. He handles most of the hay work by himself, but we’re thankful my brother-in-law Chris was able to lend a hand this year. Always grateful for good help!

🇺🇸 Family time:
We had a wonderful 4th of July, enjoying fountains and sparklers, grilled burgers and hotdogs, fresh corn on the cob, and plenty of laughs. Hope your holiday was just as sweet!

👀 What’s next?
We’re planning to measure all our growing youngsters soon to see just how tall they’re getting—it’s always fun to see who’s catching up to who! And if you’re in the market for a broodmare, keep an eye on our page after the July 24 vet appointment. We may have an exciting opportunity coming available!

As always, thanks for following along with us at Cool Runnin L Farms—we love sharing our little piece of the world with you. 💛

Drop a comment if you’ve got any questions about the horses or just want to say hi—we’d love to hear from you! 👇🐴

🇺🇸✨ Happy Independence Day from Cool Runnin L Farms! ✨🇺🇸

Today, we pause to celebrate the freedom we’re so blessed to have—and the courage, sacrifice, and unity it took to get us here. From our little corner of the world, where the sun rises over rolling pastures and horses graze in peace, we are reminded just how lucky we are to live in this beautiful country. 🐴🌾❤️

We’re deeply thankful—for our freedom, our families, our animals, and this life we get to live surrounded by the simple, meaningful things. Freedom comes in many forms, and we see it every day in the quiet strength of our horses, the hard work of our hands, and the love we pour into this land.

As you celebrate today, we hope your day is filled with laughter, good food, and the people who mean the most to you. And as always, we ask you to be safe—not just with the fireworks, but in the everyday choices we make. Take care of one another, drive safely, and keep an eye out for those who might need a little extra kindness. 🇺🇸💫

From the Ladd’s at Cool Runnin L Farms, Happy 4th of July!
Stay safe, stay grateful, and let freedom ring. 🎆🎇

📣✨ Foal Watch 2026 Update✨📣

We’re thrilled to share that Rain and Reloj are officially in foal! 💕
🗓 Rain is due April 25, 2026
🗓 Reloj is due April 28, 2026

These sweet mares are carrying what we hope will be keeper foals, and let’s just say… we are extra excited about the possibilities—especially if Reloj gives us a blue roan filly. 😍 Fingers crossed!

The sire to all our potential 2026 foals is the handsome and talented Smart Diamond Dun It, aka Rhino 🦏—who is also Tejon’s sire! With his proven mind, movement, and heart, these babies are bound to be special. 🐴💫

We still have Santanna and Chigger in the mix—they’ve both spent time with Rhino recently, and we’ll find out in a few weeks if they’re bred too!

Want to know the color possibilities these pairings could produce? 🖤🩶🤎❤️🧡💛 Drop a comment below if you’d like a fun color breakdown based on their genetics—we love a good guessing game! 👇

We’ve had a big week here on the farm!

🐴 Both Rain and Reloj were checked in foal with strong heartbeats today! We’re thrilled to have confirmed pregnancies. Rain received a caslick during her appointment, and depending on how Reloj is doing at her 60-day check, she may be getting one then too. Fingers crossed everything continues smoothly for our mama mares! 💕

🚛 Santanna and Chigger are scheduled to head home this weekend, and in about a month we’ll find out if they’re bred as well. Keep sending those good vibes!

🌤️ With a nice stretch of dry weather, we were finally able to knock out some serious hay work. Three hay fields cut and put away! Owen had a hand with the first two, but he picked up the third one all by himself—Superman style. 💪 He’s definitely earned a cold drink (or three).

🐎 With the lack of rain this week, we’re hopeful that the horse shows will be a go this weekend! We’ll keep everyone posted, and we hope to see some of you there cheering us on.

As always, we love hearing from y’all—drop a comment if you have any questions about the mares, hay, horses, or anything else on your mind! 🐴❤️🌾
