JOB TITLE: Baker – General Production and Packaging
SUMMARY: Participate actively in production of quality bakery products to ensure customer requirements are met and build customer loyalty by providing exemplary customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, floor (to ensure safety), and sanitation regulations are met. Follow “clean as you go” procedures.
Assemble necessary tools and ingredients to prepare for baking operation.
Perform bench work according to established procedures.
Understand and follow written control documentation. Complete logs and records for production tracking
Understand and follow packaging practices
Learn to operate metal detection and complete records
Learn and follow labeling guidance for each product and type
Learn and follow product, case, and pallet schematics for packaging
Learn proper labeling of product including date coding
Insert products into and retrieve products from the freezer to preserve freshness.
Follow proper procedures to ensure bakery meets out-of-stock percentage goals.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Must be 18 years old.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Ability to read and follow instructions. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic math skills. Ability to read and follow recipes/instructions. Organizational skills. Ability to reach above head level to place products in proof box or oven and turn controls.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds of baking ingredients and prepare baked goods using manual utensils/bakery equipment continually throughout the shift. Ability to bend, twist, grasp, reach, push, pull, and use repetitive motion as required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Working in a bakery with daily exposure to production activities and equipment used in bakery department. Willingness to work the hours needed to complete tasks.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED: Baking utensils. Mixers. Ovens. Sheeter. Dough rounder. Dough divider. Proofer. Any additional equipment as required.
