Columbia Farms U-Pick

Columbia Farms U-Pick Family-operated farm offering fresh produce, berries, peonies, and more on Sauvie Island. We hope to see you soon!

Located on picturesque Sauvie Island, Columbia Farms U-Pick was planted in the early 1990s. We started with one acre of strawberries and now offer more than fifteen different types of berries, covering over eighty acres. We also have flowers, tomatoes, pumpkins and all types of fall décor items. Our family strives to keep the true essence of a working farm for our visitors. Anyone and everyone is welcome to pick berries, picnic under our handmade gazebo, or simply enjoy the scenery.

🍦Have you heard about our newest “crop?” New Zealand Style Ice Cream made right here on our farm!

We make New Zealand Style Ice Cream with a combo of Tillamook vanilla bean ice cream and our own berries. The machine presses these two perfect ingredients together to make a berry soft-serve 🥰 This weekend, we’re serving strawberry ice cream made with our very own HOODS. As berry season progresses, we will have more flavors depending on which berries are ripe.

Read below to see the hours for ice cream:
🍦 Saturdays + Sundays: 11am - 4:30pm
🍦weekdays will start June 16
🍦Twilight Picking ice cream starts June 17
💔 CLOSED ON MONDAYS

We’re excited to get this started on Saturday, May 30th! 🍦🍓🍦🍓

🍓Strawberry Season is here!!🍓

All the regulars know: we crop rotate to keep our soil healthy. Our strawberry field is across the street from our main farm; we called it “Giga Field” last year so you might remember it! Its entrance is a little bit AFTER our main farm entrance. Look for the giant sign that says “STRAWBERRY PARKING ⬅️” and the giant strawberry flag where the driveway starts.

Since this field is further away from our main market, we’ve worked hard to include everything you need in one spot: parking, registers, wagons, bathrooms, and boxes for transporting berries home. You can also walk to this field if you want to get extra steps in 🏃🏻‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Here is how the field is looking:
🍓Sweet Sunrise: plentiful and easy to pick! Come get them!
🍓Hoods: we have two sections of Hoods. I recommend the furthest section. It’s a “first year field” and the Hoods look great. The closer/older Hoods have some red but aren’t as ripe as the younger Hoods.
🍓Mary’s Peak: a little bit of red, difficult to find. Not quite ready yet but you can find a few.
🍓Finnito: turning pink! Not ready yet.

Hours: Tuesday - Sunday, 9am - 5pm*
Twilight Picking: Wednesdays, 5-8pm*
*entry to field ends 30 minutes prior to close
Closed every Monday
❤️NO PETS ALLOWED❤️

Friends! You have been so patient as we’ve watched our crops this spring. We are excited that our peonies and strawberries are right on time.

💐Pre-Cut Peonies: these start this weekend! Yes, tomorrow! Since they are pre-cut, you can shop for them at our self-service station directly in front of our market. Come prepared to pay with Venmo or cash. Price is $3/stem. (Reminder: our market is not open during this time.)

💐U-Cut Peonies: the field opens for u-cut peonies on Saturday, May 16. You know the drill: bring clippers, a bucket, and wear shoes that can get dirty. Price is $3/stem.

🍓Strawberries: exact date is still TBD but we think the last week of May. Just like last year, we have Sweet Sunrise, Hoods, Mary’s Peak, and Finnito (formerly called the “OSU Test Variety.)

🍦Ice Cream: if you made it this far into the caption, you get to know that this year, we are offering New Zealand style ice cream! This will be a big learning curve for us as we get our staff trained and see how many tubs of Tillamook we go through each week. I expect the ice cream cart to be open on the weekends at first, and then we will transition to 6 days a week when school gets out.

Be sure to check our website for hours, prices, and FAQs! See you soon on the farm!

The blueberries are still going strong for our last Twilight Picking tonight! We are closed during the day today, but we are open 5pm - 8pm for Twilight Picking. This is specific for Wednesday, July 30 - so if you read this on Thursday, you’re too late! Read below for a full crop update:

🫐Blueberries: we still have a few Top Shelf near the road. We have lots of Legacies in both fields. Chandler and Calypso also look good.
🩷Pink Lemonades: we have a few pockets of ripe berries out there. Not a ton, but enough to sprinkle on top of your other berries.
💟Blackberries: the Triple Crowns are still not super plentiful. Enough to pick a few pints but I’m hoping this weekend they look better.
🍑Pre-Picked Peaches: we have more peaches from .vandyke_farms. Variety is Vivid and they are delicious!

Hi Friends! Berry season is slowing down here at the farm; we’re down to our last two weekends being open. August 3rd will be our last day for u-pick berries. Next week, we will only be open for Twilight Picking on Wednesday and we will have our regular hours, 9am -5pm, on Saturday and Sunday. Here is what you can find in our berry fields:

❤️Raspberries: Tulameens and Cascade Harvest still look decent. Cascade Delight is pretty soft and difficult to find. All other varieties are done.
💜Boysens: done for the year.
🟣Marionberries: still a few in our thornless plants if you walk FAR into the rows and look INSIDE the plants. This is their last weekend.
💟Blackberries: Triple Crowns are ready but get picked quickly because we only have four short rows. (Don’t worry - I planted more so we won’t have this problem in two years.) I recommend twilight picking next week Wednesday for plentiful blackberries.
🫐Blueberries: Legacy, Top Shelf, and Calypso are plentiful in the baby field close to the road. Chandlers have been picked hard; they should have easy picking conditions next week Wednesday during Twilight Picking.
🩷🫐Pink Lemonades: wow - everyone loves these! They’ve been picked hard. I recommend Twilight Picking next week Wednesday or Saturday, August 2 in the morning for easier picking. This variety is never “plentiful” due to their pollination process. Also, no one ever picks near the road in the last two rows. Now you know my secret picking spot 😂
🍑We have pre-picked peaches for sale in our market. They’re from our friend, .vandyke_farms

👀 The Pink Lemonade blueberries are here! 🩷🫐 Read below for a full crop update for this week ⬇️

🫐Blueberries: we have a lot of different varieties ready right now! Draper, Top Shelf, Legacy, Chandler, and Calypso are all ready and have plentiful picking conditions. Pink Lemonades are ready but not as plentiful as the other varieties. This is typical of the pink blueberries though 🙂
❤️Raspberries: the Cascade Harvest variety looks really good! Easy picking in that variety this week.
💟Boysen Berries: easy picking when you walk halfway down the rows. This is probably their last week.
💜Marionberries: This is their last week. Easier picking in our thornless variety when you walk waaaaaay down the row and look inside the plants.
🟣Blackberries: we are between varieties right now. Columbia Star are pretty much done and the Triple Crowns aren’t ready yet. We planted a new variety (Galaxy) that will fill this gap in the next year or two 🙌🏻
