Today marks ten years with the world’s foremost Bissell Brothers apostle, Kevin Broydrick.

Kevin initially came into our orbit at a place where infinite friendships have been formed: The Thirsty Pig. Immediately connecting across the bar over neo-surf rock and drinkability of Peeper, he and Noah became quick pals. Trust came quickly. Kev’s apartment was actually the first “venue” Bissell draft beer was served in (for reasons lost to history, both homebrewed batches were named after professional wrestlers & poured extremely foamy).

A handful of years later, we made our move to Thompsons Point and were faced with the task of dramatically increasing the size of our FOH staff. Naturally, the most ardent, gregarious, and welcoming person we knew felt like a perfect match to be an ambassador for our new home. Kevin fit the role perfectly and became an instant staple behind the bar. His infectious passions – for music, film, food, Tottenham Hotspur, and of course, beer – quickly became inextricable in the DNA of our hospitality experience and the business itself.

Eventually, Kevin’s evangelism for the brewery became too strong to contain within our four walls. He made the transition to sales rep and began spreading the good word across all corners of his favorite place on earth: Maine. In this position, he’s done absolute wonders for the brand. He works tirelessly to find new connections and loving homes for our beer, nurtures and brings existing relationships to new depths, and relentlessly goes above and beyond for his accounts in ways that are exhausting for us mere mortals to watch. His thoughtful, genuine, and never pushy approach to selling beer has made him a favorite across the state for the reason that Kevin is always simply himself.

Ultimately, to know Kevin is to love him. In his free time, he takes care of historic lighthouses and creates (extremely long and punishing) trail races; he’s an amazing son, husband, and father (a natural girl dad); and his lust for life is beyond aspirational. If you’re fortunate enough to know him, you know what makes him truly special is the fact his heart will always live firmly on his sleeve. At Bissell Brothers, we’re so incredibly lucky to have a small spot within that same arm.

Thank you for being you, BroFresh. Stay beautiful.

Today marks a full decade of working alongside one of America’s greatest one-of-ones: Geoff Ballou.

Before Geoff started at Bissell Brothers in 2016, he was Noah’s college roommate, meaning his thumbprint was on the company long before it was even an idea. For better or worse (often worse in the early days), he dutifully performed as Taster-In-Chief for Noah’s first two years of homebrew; helped rinse bottles in the bathtub; and even split the cost of the security deposit on a stovetop forever lost to scalding wort.

Years later, Geoff’s mechanically-inclined mind made an immediate impact on our packaging operations as soon as we poached him from the “automotive industry” back in Farmington. During his tenure as Packaging Manager, the brewery’s output has more than tripled – Geoff has overseen countless forklift certifications, the installation of multiple new canning lines, private sales of many employees' personal vehicles, and the meticulous and efficient packaging of over 3 MILLION gallons of beer.

He’s very fond of saying “There’s nothing you can do to make beer better at packaging, but there’s a whole lot you can do to make it worse.” Thanks to his leadership, this ethos has become foundational in how we approach packaging beer - be it keg, bottle, or aluminum can. His hatred for dissolved O2 and foam degradation is matched only by his love for angle grinders and zip ties (damn, does he love zip ties), and his patient attention to detail continues to result in some of the most consistently fresh-tasting liquid you can find.

Despite his functional prowess in daily operations, Geoff’s true superpower will never be quantifiable with a dissolved oxygen meter or balance sheet. From last minute schedule changes, to unforeseen mechanical issues, and whatever else hits the fan, Geoff always takes it on with unwavering positivity. His sense of humor and smile are contagious, and buoy the spirits of the entire company. His presence literally makes Bissell Brothers a better place to work.

He might not be able to make the beer *better*, but he sure as hell makes our world brighter, and we’d argue that’s a difference you can taste. We love you, Big Shooter.
