I'm pretty sure this is a little roo in hiding.
Sure is gorgeous though. A Dark Brahma Silver Laced Cochin mix.
This one has created a bond on its own when it was days old. Jumped in my hand and cuddled with me. Would continue to want to be picked up when I'd do things in the brooder. Now that this one has been running around with everyone in the run I believe the bond has been severed. No more asking for attention sadly. I think fate has intervened knowing I cannot get attached to any boys.
All boys that get hatched that grow out here are sold for meat. I already have 3 boys and honestly don't need anymore that doesn't fit my breeding needs. I don't have separate coops and runs yet! So we're at a stand still of who I can keep. Now if one happens to outshine the rest and completely creates a loving bond with me and is a completely good boy then I'll consider it, but until then I simply can't.
As much as it breaks my heart to see my boys grow out into beautiful birds they must go between 20-30 weeks. We'll be at 7 weeks on Saturday/Sunday from this hatch. After August 8th all appropriate age and weight boys will be processed. They go knowing that they were loved and they had good lives. I give each one a cuddle and love before they go. We are thankful for their lives that were spent with us.
Realistically we always end up with more boys. Every hatch I pick some to keep and apparently I'm just that amazing at picking boys. π€¦π»ββοΈ I am hoping with the 2 broody momma's sitting on eggs we will end up with more ladies, cause all of those we will be growing out. Only time will tell with those.
