Planning to go to EPPS in Suffolk tomorrow morning, will be bringing a couple hatches of quail chicks off heat (straight run), one or two established full-grown covies, and a bachelor/meat pen.

Come wish me a happy bird-day and I’ll gift you 6 surprise assorted fertilized quail eggs (while supplies last)!

Established covey of Pharaoh Progressive Pied (5:1) available, they do have sparkly in there so offspring is mostly non-feather-sexable. They have access to a sand bath, so white feathers may appear yellowish. They are all under a year hatched around December, the current male goes with them regardless but you are welcome to choose a younger rooster from my bachelor pad for no extra if you like!

Just a heads up, one of these hens is a lil spicey (for my standards which, to be fair, are kind of high) and one of them is a younger hen added to the covey recently, I believe she’s around 2 months old.

Pick up in Portsmouth Va, FCFS!

I might have some by-products of my quail project color I’m working on! I’ll have colors that are either extras or aren’t what I am trying to select for color-wise. Here’s some examples of the assortment!

Maybe they’re both feeling the afterglow but Vex is a total pancake right now too 😆 Hilarious.

I may regret letting her go, but I still have her daughter Jinx and her son with Atlas (no name yet). Can’t wait to see her Revenge babies! She hops on Sunday with a long transport to her forever home.

My brood buck, Top Mark’s Revenge, is such a joy. I am sending Vex to her new home on Sunday bred to him. We just got some of the most solid lengthy fall-offs I have ever seen, and now he’s just pancaking while I brush him out and trim his nails. This boy loves being groomed, he nearly fell asleep while I pet him, and he just lays down and extends his leg out backward for me to trim the back toenails. This will be a really nice pairing for my spicy girl, I hope she has some really lovely babies!

Time to blow out fans in the rabbit run!

I gave up on the DIY swamp cooler setup, I just couldn’t keep up with the ice and they get gross quickly. The fans have stayed as an “OK” addition for *some* air flow, but I do not recommend these Holmes cheapies from Walmart. It says blizzard on the box but they literally are just one step above nothing at all… but since I’ve already spent the money I am making them work for at least this year and will hopefully find a better alternative for next season.

If anyone has any suggestions on nice plug-in fans rated for outdoors (I have my rabbits in my covered chicken run but it does leak some and it’s very humid here in eastern Virginia) I would love to know what has worked for others with a plug in setup! Solar powered fans just don’t get enough charge in my shady yard to run all day 🥲
