What is everyone doing to keep your rabbits/animals safe in this heat?

We do a number of things and it just never feels like it’s enough. We freeze gel blocks, have tile rests, add ice to their water multiple times, have fans on them and periodically go out and spray a mist over them, freeze watermelon rinds and slices of cucumber and strawberry tops for frozen treats throughout the day. They’re still so miserable we are thinking of trying to make space in the workshop again.

The workshop has AC but when we did that last year it was just SUCH a pain in the butt to keep everything clean. We may have to figure an indoor cage setup for extreme weather. Idk, shower thoughts.

If everyone makes it through this crazy heat wave I think I’ll have some really nice rabbits to show this fall! So excited to see how these litters grow out ✨

My sister had a BUNCH growing wild in her yard and let me harvest a bag full! Freeze dried and snipped the flowers off for tea and have another jar of the first 2” of stems to make some tincture 💞

Tea for fevers, digestion, upset stomach

Tinctures for quick acting relief for menstrual cramps, also first aid for scrapes and cuts

Got all the 5 week olds tattooed today!! Here are a couple of my favorites that I had the spoons to photograph 🤪 the first two might actually be the same rabbit lol she cute

It was no easy feat, I was over it dude. But it’s so worth it, I usually do sharpie in the ear for the first maybe 10-12 weeks and tattoo the ones I’m going to show, but the sharpie doesn’t last a week and it adds time and frustration when I accidentally wait too long and have to figure out who is who by my notes. I tattooed early for my last batch as well and it’s one long day for smooth(er) sailing the rest of growout season.

Got a lot of really promising kits in these litters!!! I can’t wait to see how they grow out! 😻

Had a great time seeing my Creme friends at the Smithfield NC show! I was battling a migraine and in incognito mode with a hat and sunnies indoors and didn’t even think to get pictures with everyone 😭 Congrats to DeeAnn Wilder Homestead for their BOB and BOSB wins, and we ended up picking up a couple legs as well! 🙌🏻

We just loved how the offspring of Jacky x Rendezvous are growing out and are definitely planning on collaborating again for another breeding with that pairing for next season 🙌🏻

It’s so fun to have found a community within the cremes to work together and move the breed forward. It really feels like when one of us wins all of us wins 💞

Edit to add: forgot to mention I also brought along a cute buck and doe for Franklin Farm! Got some really good feedback on those juniors as well 🙌🏻
