Virginia Espresso Epplein had his epiphany one day in the late '80's when he overhead a server in his restaurant responding to a customer who had ordered an espresso. Broken?

Virginia Espresso was founded in 1995 by Larry Epplein, an admitted coffee nut, who had built, owned and operated ten restaurants in the previous 25 years, ranging from quick service to neighborhood bistro to fine dining. "I'm sorry," said the server, "but our espresso machine is broken." thought Epplein. Not when he tried it! Turns out the server just din't want to make the espresso. He was afrai

d of the machine and had no confidence he could produce an acceptable drink. When Epplein sold his last restaurant in the early '90's, he was determined to provide a service to food and beverage operators to help them, through expert equipment selection and training, make espresso drinks a significant profit center for their businesses. Today, Virginia Espresso provides equipment, supplies and service to hundreds of clients in central and southeastern Virginia and eastern North Carolina.

Virginia Espresso wishes everyone Happy Holidays. We also want to let everyone know that we will be closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. We will reopen on Dec 26 at 10am. We will be open until Friday Dec 28 at 530pm. We will then be closed until Jan 2, 2013 when we will reopen at our new location at 2215 High Street in Portsmouth, VA. Our relocation is due to the retirement of Larry and Jeanette, who sold Virginia Espresso to Tidewater Coffee. We will continue to carry all of the products you love as well as many new and exciting products. So come visit us at our new location. You can call us at the new location 399-4323.
