Jim’s busy mowing the shore lots today. The hay will be left to dry to about 50% moisture then round baled and wrapped tomorrow for baleage to be used as winter feed. We are seeing very good yields so far this season in our hayfields and pastures although it’s been a little dry lately.

Howdy folks! There is construction on Wapping Rd and both lanes are closed this morning if you are coming from Sandy Point, however there is still access coming from the South on Wapping. We are happy to schedule home deliveries till work is completed. The AQF Farm Store is located at 333 Wapping Rd Portsmouth and we are open 11:00 to 5:00 Monday through Saturday. 401-849-0337. We’ve had 16 calves born in the first two weeks of our calving season and were recently asked if we can take one to the Farmers Market. That is not going to happen for many reasons, however there will be a special, cow- calf pair present to represent our herd. Check us out, we attend the Hope Street Market in Providence 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturdays and The Aquidneck Growers Market on Memorial Boulevard in Newport 1:00 to 6:00 on Wednesdays.

While Sadie is still in training, Gabe is rotating between our poultry and cattle herds where he deters predators. Like everything in our pasture systems at AQF his dog house is movable and can be dragged by tractors to keep him close to where he can keep good watch over the calves or poultry.
