🌿🐐 Welcome to Wytchwood Homestead 🐓🌾
Tucked in the northern Ozarks near Potosi, Missouri—about halfway between Sullivan and Potosi off Hwy 185—Wytchwood Homestead is a small, independent homestead where animals roam, plants grow wild and true, and each season brings something new.

We currently raise and work with:
🦃 White Holland turkeys (currently seeking a Tom)
🐔 American Bresse (AB), Chantecler (CH), Buff Orpingtons & barnyard mix chickens
🌨️ Coming soon: The Wytchwood Whytes—our own cold-hardy hybrid of American Bresse and Chantecler
🪶 Coturnix quail (remnants of celadon still in the egg line – winding down)
🐐 Pygmy goats (no current availability, but spring babies expected)
🐇 Rex and New Zealand rabbits (two Rex grow outs available for a very limited time) (hybrids also possible)
🐶 Great Pyredane pups (limited availability—5 still looking for homes!)
🦆 A small duck duo: Sugar-Face and her little white gentleman (the remainder have left to other homesteads; more soon)

Depending on the season and hatch cycles, we may have limited availability of:
🥚 Fertile hatching eggs (Buff Orpington and Coturnix quail available now; AB and CH will be laying soon)
🐣 Chicks, poults, and keets (especially from our rogue free-rangers!)
🐇 Grow-out rabbits or litters
🪴 Herb starts, heirloom vegetables & seasonal produce
🛠️ Wire rabbit cages (starting fall 2025)
🪵 Coming soon: hand-built cat furniture from our shed workshop

✨ Spring is in full swing and our birds are laying strong! We’ve got fresh fertile hatching eggs, feather-footed chicks, quail, and soon—Muscovy ducklings—available for local pickup.

🐔 American Bresse – $20/dozen

🐔 Buff Orpington – $10/dozen

🐔 Barnyard Mix – $5/dozen

🦃 Guinea Fowl – $10/dozen (limited quantity)

🥚 Coturnix Quail – $7/dozen

✨🐣 Wytchwood Hatchery Announcement! 🐣✨

Big news from Wytchwood! At 10:30 PM last night, we welcomed another precious baby Muscovy duckling into the world! 🌿 Meet Solstice, a little fighter who had a rough start but is now warm, safe, and thriving with their sibling, Dawn/Strider. 💛

But that’s not all—Tomorrow, after the storm passes, the incubator will be set with 30 chicken eggs! 🥚 That means if all goes well, in about 25 days, we’ll have strong, healthy chicks ready to go to their new homes!

🐓 Who’s in the mix?
This hatch will be a beautiful variety of breeds, thanks to a lineup of Buff Brahma, Buff Orpington, Welsummer, American Bresse, and some stunning mixes!

🐓 Potential Roosters: Buff Orpington, Bresse, Sumatra, and a few gorgeous mixed boys.
🐔 Purebred Note: Only a handful of Bresse and Orpington eggs will be set, and these will be purebred as both flocks are closed.

📅 Timing Breakdown:

Eggs set: Tomorrow
Hatch expected by Day 21
Pickups start around Day 25 (once yolk is fully absorbed and chicks are strong)
💛 Health & Care: Each chick will receive probiotics and electrolytes before pickup.
🥚 Feeding Prep: No food is given before they leave to ensure they start fresh on YOUR brand of feed. Instead, they’ll be nourished by their own yolk, staying healthy and strong until they get to you.
🔥 Warmth & Love: Just plenty of heat, care, and snuggles before heading to their new homes!

Guys, it's been a miserable winter here in Southeast Missouri lol. I still have 4 pups from it last litter, 2 boys and two girls. But because of the back to back severe weather and cold, I've not yet been able to get them bathed and set up for pretty pictures and stories and that's a shame. These are beautiful, healthy lovable and playful pups needing homes as they are going to be 12 weeks soon! And I am really pressed for space as well. And since the kennel roof collapsed in the last storm now every subsequent storm fills it up and makes it bulge down into the kennel until you can manage to shovel off or push off the snow. I need to take that kennel out of service let me have these are the last of the pups for a while and I will get pictures as soon as I can but until then if you're interested shoot me a message. :-) now stop

Today's bag of tricks lol.
There's still quite a bit of seeds here but I think I have room once I get the other two beds finished cleaning them up even if I have to pack them in lol. I'm depressed because I have zero beans. I found a handful of what looked like pinto beans but other than that I planted all of my pole and Bush beans and the seed trays and then the seed trays washed out and not a damn thing germinated except squash and one pumpkin plant oh and one hot pepper. So I trip to Walmart maybe in order. I need my damn beans and I'm mad cuz I didn't get any this year my Kentucky Wonder beans are gone my dragon tongue beans are gone all my bush and pole beans are gone other than a handful of like I said pinto beans that's what it looks like. 🫘

Anyway the outer bands from Helene should start arriving sometime after midnight tonight or so and we're going to have 4 days of rain so I'm getting everything in the ground I can possibly get in the ground now lol. Perfect time to germinate right?
