The bees got their work done during bloom, even with the cooler weather. We are seeing plenty of apples setting throughout the orchard. The crop potential looks promising at this stage! 🍎

"The "king bloom" is the central flower bud in a cluster of apple blossoms. Opening first, this leader blossom is the strongest and typically develops into the largest, highest-quality apple on the tree" (UVM)

Sing for the laughter, and sing for the tear
Sing it with me, if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away" Dream on, Aerosmith

❤️. Today is a day for our family to reflect on the loss of a great man, gone one year already.

The fruit bud development on these Zestar apple trees has been slow and steady over the past two weeks in this cool weather. The blossoms will be open soon! 🍎 🍎

Recent cooler than normal temperatures have have held the fruit bud development from advancing much during the last week. When we get a few days of warmer temperatures the orchard will be full of blossoms. The crop potential looks great, we just need to get through the next couple of weeks without a hard freeze.
We've had plenty of rain, great conditions to plant a few more trees. Pictures taked today.

Almost got the lawn mower out yesterday in the near 80 degree temperature. More like snow blower weather today!

We lost all of our snow in the orchard this past week. It's nice to be working on bare ground.

🍎 This block of Premier Honeycrisp trees is entering its 6th growing season after planting. They have put on some fruit the past two seasons
🍎 With proper nourishment, determined by soil tests and leaf analysis, along with pruning and training, they have filled their space nicely. (That ladder is an eight footer) The potential exists for a significant crop this season on these trees.

🍎 Also, for the most part, we have kept the deer off them. A critical task if you're growing fruit trees.
