We were one good dog shy of a country song tonight. Our farm boy decided to venture out tonight and visit the horse. LA was a happy horse since he got several large handfuls of specifically selected green grab and a dandelion! We love that the farm boy gets to grow up and experience the things he does.

And so it begins! The seed starting rack is up, the tomatoes, peppers and herbs are started. We'll get some other started later this week or early next. Hoping to get outside for potatoes and an experimental garlic patch this weekend. Used up lots of older seeds, some dated back as far as 2017. If you throw them away they definitely won't start, at least in the dirt and tended to they have a chance. Happy growing!

These two tots made a big move today! Outside they went. The weather has been nice enough, they are old enough. They will be fine. I know this but we've also bottle raised these boys for 2.5 months in the house, so I am a bit over protective. They've got plenty of food and water. I tried to get a camera to work out there but the services doesn't like the steel barn! They will be fine!

It's hard to believe that these kids are almost 7 weeks old! How does time go by so fast? These little guys are growing and thriving daily. Unfortunately their mom decided that raising babies in January wasn't her jam, so here we are with bottle babies!

4 and a half quarters are strawberries dehydrated and bagged. One of our favorite summertime treats! They won't last long but they definitely taste good.

It's a sad day here on the farm. This morning the best "farm dog" ever, Magick, decided to cross the rainbow bridge. This guy has been around the farm his whole life. He lived a very long life making it to almost 19 years old. For a primarily outdoor cat that is an extremely long life.

However about 4 years ago, he came home with a very big cut on his side which needed a surgical repair. After that he learned all about indoor life and became quite spoiled. He still did venture out during the day but always found a cozy lap or blanket to curl up on to end his nights.

When Jax came along, he and Magick formed a fast friendship. Jax's toys could often be found riding around on Magick's back.

This cat will be greatly missed around here. I'm not sure what I will do when I go to feed and he doesn't follow me around. Or when he's not scaring me by creeping out of the bushes. We love you and miss you already buddy!

My tomato seeds are getting their first true leaves and the peppers are slowly but surely popping their little heads up! For the first time since our kiddo joined the family and farm, I have seeds successfully started! Can't wait for the weather to break and these little guys to go in the ground. I've got more seeds to start still but we are getting there.

Our flock is currently made up of mostly older laying hens that we are all very attached too. The girls all of names and we know their personalities. So these slacking ladies get to stick around and be freeloader. I don't check the nest boxes often because when hens get older their production drops. Yesterday on a whim, I decided to check! I was greeted by 5 beautiful blue/green eggs. Guess it's time to start checking more regularly.
We have new chicks in the brooder but they won't start laying for awhile. We do plan on adding some hens who are already laying to our flock that way we can support our egg business. Let us know if you would like to be added to our egg list!
