Week 14 is here and while the leaves in the trees are going to start going red and gold, the leaves in the fields are shifting back to green (talking about you, dandelion!) ⁠

It's not overwhelming yet - still plenty of fruits to balance things out so enjoy the mix as the seasons meet for a little party before the fall crops take over!

Their time with us is coming to a close - we'll soon be ripping them out and turning these beds over for our winter greens. Let's give these towering fruit-makers...and their tending lovin' farmers a standing ovation. ⁠

Tunnel flowers. We've got a beautiful line-up of reliable crops we always grow in high tunnels: Lisianthus, Ranunculus, Spring Snaps and Foxglove....but there's always room for experimentation. We left some space for summer Calendula, Craspedia, and Asters this year and we're pretty pleased with what we've seen! ⁠
⁠
In addition to these new blooms we're working on getting a fall blooming succession of Digitalis and Snapdragons going to get us to the edge of winter. It was a quick turnaround to get planted behind late spring flowers and that meant we had to plant into landscape fabric to save time on the prep end (when we would have typically steamed the soil.) ⁠
⁠
It's another experiment we're grateful to have the opportunity to explore. We're feeling hopeful that we'll be swimming in flowers, ready to bring us all some brightness, right as the days begin getting darker.

Amaranth is one of our favorite flowers to grow for drying. This variety here is called Velvet Curtains. ⁠

With a history dating back thousands of years, amaranth has long been valued as a food crop and ceremonial plant. Today, we love it for its dramatic shape, rich color, and incredible ability to hold onto both when dried.⁠
⁠
The long, cascading tassels make beautiful additions to dried bouquets and arrangements, and they bring a little wild, old-fashioned character to winter flowers.⁠
⁠
A summer flower that keeps giving long after the growing season ends.
