So this happened today. Could have been much worse, but it ads another project to the ever-growing task list this time of year. Every day it goes unchecked is a day we are prone to gopher, deer, and other animals browsing our veggies and obliterating our hard work. But on a happy note, the garlic scapes are ready! Super tasty on the grill.

What will you put on the BBQ this weekend? I love grilling season. The whole meal goes on the grill and I enjoy grilling nearly every vegetable I grow. Favorites include cabbage (devine), bok choy, turnips, carrots, scallions, radish, asparagus, and brocolinni. Drizzle with olive oil, soy sauce or balsamic vinegar, and ground black pepper. Sooo good!

I always enjoy getting creative with interplanting in the spring. As a farmer you are always looking for places to plant more crops. This bed is planted with radishes on the outside, dill in the middle, and potatoes are starting to emerge in between. The radishes and dill will be out of the way as the potatoes fill in the bed.

Some photos of the past 2 weeks on the farm. We've been really busy, but starting to feel the shorter days slowing things down. Looking forward to cooler working days.

Our Story...

Maple View Farm broke ground in the spring of 2017, re-purposing an old dairy farm (circa 1870) into a small scale vegetable and herb farm. Owner and Farmer, Kyle, brought with him his knowledge of farming in Ohio combined with experience working on several successful farms in the Hudson Valley. Kyle started Maple View Farm with the goal to provide fresh produce to the local community in a sustainable manner.

We grow our produce following organic practices and promote a diverse, healthy, living soil. What does this mean? It means: we source our seed from regional suppliers; we use organic seed whenever possible; we work the soil by hand, never tilling; we use locally made compost to feed the soil which in turn feeds our vegetables; we ensure crops are continually rotated; and we implement an integrated approach to preventing pest and diseases among our crops. These practices combined with a bit of hard work yields incredibly delicious and nutritious food which we enjoy as a family and share with our local community.

Our produce reaches tables in the areas surrounding Poughkeepsie, Pawling, Beacon, and Wappingers. You can find our produce in local restaurants, through our CSA, at the Arlington Farmer’s Market, and in our Farm Stand.
