I have no words left for the hijacking of our health

The EPA has ended a scientific risk assessment that could have paved the way for stricter regulation of PFAS-contaminated sewage sludge that is used as fertilizer to grow our food, arguing the public health risk is not significant… but it is.

This is why we don’t use “organic” grain for our livestock. Locally sourced gmo free from trusted suppliers grains to feed the pigs and chickens roaming our unsprayed pastures that nourish our community.

For years, consumers have been conditioned to believe that paying a steep 60% markup at high-end grocers guarantees superior safety, meticulous quality control, and ethically distinct sourcing. Instead, this health crises completely shatters that illusion, proving that luxury grocery branding is often just a marketing facade pasted over the exact same consolidated industrial agriculture network. Finding out that a boutique, organic-coded salad bowl carries the precise same contamination risks as a fast-food taco exposes a systemic deception where price has absolutely zero correlation with food safety.

What makes this situation truly alarming is how it highlights the total lack of transparency and accountability in the corporate food system. Multibillion-dollar conglomerates have quietly monopolized global supply chains, funneling identical produce into different packaging to exploit consumer trust and extract higher profits from wealthier demographics. When a dangerous parasite slips through the cracks, it unmasks the grim reality that wealthy shoppers are merely paying a premium for a false sense of security. It is a profoundly unsettling reminder that no matter how much extra money you spend to protect your family’s health, everyone is ultimately at the mercy of the same flawed, centralized corporate farming machine.

With all this talk going on about bad vegetables being sold. It really has brought light to how and who is our big players in our food industries.

So beef has like 4 that own and operate.

Vegetables have like 4 also.

Dairy has like 8 main players.

This should scare yall more than anything. This is why our food chain and food industry is so fragile.
This is why supporting local is so important.

Join us this year for the 2026 Kitsap Junior Livestock Auction. We have an excited group of youth ready to share their passion, hard work, and tasty product with you! If you have a freezer, a passion for supporting your community, or respect for extremely hardworking youth, you need to check out this awesome event!

It is held annually during the Kitsap Fair and Stampede in the auction/swine ring. Animals are presented by species, starting with beef and ending with swine. Your support and contributions make it possible for kids to learn even more by purchasing next year's projects, saving for college, and giving them a jumpstart on their future.

Kids in the auction organization start an animal just after weaning, have to feed them at a very specific growth rate, provide their care and proper health needs, train them for exhibition, and then market their animal in the community in the hopes of finding a few buyers for an exciting auction lot!

Today I’m thinking about my kids. About the future.

They don’t understand court dates or hearings.
They just know mom leaves early sometimes and comes home another day exhausted.

They know the rhythm of the barn.
They know fresh milk in the fridge.
They know the animals, helping with chores, and markets.

What they don’t quite yet understand is that their family farm is in an ongoing legal battle just for this life to exist.

But one day they will.

One day they’ll understand that we stood up — not just for our farm — but for small farms across the country and everyone’s right to food freedom.

We’ve raised $5,330 toward our $10,000 goal for legal representation and ongoing court expenses.

That number represents people who care about the next generation of farmers. About their health and possibilities.

We still have $4,670 to go.
