There is nothing quite like having a big family the noise, the chaos, the laughter, the endless laundry, and the way the dinner table is never quiet. ❤️
But this week? This week we’re in survival mode.
Two of my kiddos are down with the flu, and when sickness hits a large family, it really hits. Thermometers, medicine cups, cool washcloths, couch pallets, and a steady rotation of snuggles. The house feels both loud and extra quiet at the same time, loud with the healthy ones still full of energy, quiet where two should be being loud and horsing around but instead are resting.
Being a mom in these moments means running on little sleep, keeping track of fevers in the middle of the night, disinfecting everything that doesn’t move, and praying it doesn’t make its way through everyone else. It’s checking on one child while answering a question from another and starting another load of towels in between.
Large families mean big love but they also mean big germ exposure. And when two are sick, you feel pulled in all directions. Still, I wouldn’t trade it. The extra cuddles, the way siblings bring blankets and whisper “I hope you feel better,” the way everyone somehow pulls together that’s the beauty in it.
Right now we’re fueled by soup, sports drinks, patience, and a whole lot of grace.
Prayers that this flu stops at two. 💛
