First cattle drive of the season was one for the books!

We just completed our May Cattle Drive on with a fabulous group of people. Some highlights:

My cousin Kathleen came to visit for the week to help me cook for the guests. She had no idea what brutality she signed up for, but it was great spending lots of quality time together.

We tagged lots of calves and moved pairs to fresh pasture. It’s their last move on the home place before beginning their 50 mile odyssey to the mountains for the summer.

We had a couple repeat guests join us that have become like family.

Another large portion of our group were young moms and riding fast with them was freeing, healing, and some much fun.

We have a new full time cook on our summer crew, Will, who crafted some of the best meals I think I’ve ever had in my life. The lamb chops with chimichurri was the real show stopper.

On a rainy and cold day, we took the opportunity to give a tour of our meat processing plant . Everytime I lead a tour I’m deeply moved by the story of how it came to be and all the people who worked/work together to make it happen.

All in all, what an amazing way to kick off the season!

Much to be thankful for!

Thankful to be able to raise my little family on the ranch and continue the family legacy.
