We went to check on the heifers in the pasture since Cosmo had escaped recently and looked suspicious for pink eye. Her eyes look clear, but still a little irritated: no one else looks suspicious so we will keep monitoring.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day. A day to thanks and think of all those who gave their lives for us to be free. It is easy to forget all the wars this country has been through or all the blood that has been shed for us to be here, since many of us only see and hear what the news tells us.

My job as a parent is to let my children know many of their family members have served their country and are still here today, but they also know not everyone has made it back.

So as we gather together to give thanks to the fallen, remind yourself that freedom is not free.
