Another NEW beer project… the Trellis & Bine Double IPA… brewed with 100% heritage blend of Northeast grown hops… this will be available the first weekend of August.

There's a new beer in town! Hopkings Pale Ale, made by Stoneman Brewery with hops by Hoppy Valley 05261, is now available for purchase by the bottle at Provisions Williamstown and for a full pour at Images Cinema, also in Williamstown. Enjoy!

On Aug.1, the VT Department of Health issued a ruling which, among other things, requires home food producers to include the following on their ingredient label, in 10-point type: "Made in a home kitchen not inspected by the Vermont Department of Health." There is no justification for this warning label in FDA or Vermont statutes.

The DoH says consumers need to make a "a risk-based choice," as their rationalization for this label requirement. What about the millions of pounds of food sold at stores that's been imported, many from our economic and political adversaries? Only between 1 and 2 percent of these foods have been inspected, yet Vermont does not require a "risk-based choice" for all these items. What about foods made in home kitchens from our neighboring states of New York, New Hampshire and Massachusetts on store shelves and at Vermont Farmers Markets and other such venues?
